      Life after CABG

I'm going to experience a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft in the near future. I wondered how that was going to affect my shooting after a period of healing. Anybody have experience shooting heavier recoiling guns after a decent period of time? No .375 H&Hs, just guns of the class of .30/30...

      Jack-of-all-shotguns?

Probably any of the shotguns mentioned will work. Take a tour of pawn shops/small gun shops in the area where you choose to live. You never know what you will turn up. As for your family, your son sounds like he has arms long enough to handle a full size shotgun but what about your wife. If she...

      S&W wheelgun specialist?

Will Bosshoss work on off brands, say High Standard Sentinel or a old Ruger Security Six?

      Blizzard survival

I used to carry cold weather gear all the time, even in the summer. It was called bunker gear or firefighter's gear. The boots , bibs, coat, gloves and nomex hood could have been used in a cold weather situation and worked well. Too bad I had to give them up when I quit volunteering. At least I...

      Seat Belt Cutter

When I was a volunteer firefighter, I carried a S&W branded folder w/ a guthook style cutter and a window punch on the end. FYI, if you just want to break windows, an automatic center punch works great.

      barrel/suppressor for 10/22

I've never owned a suppressor but I'm thinking of starting. I've heard about the wait times and the transfer tax. I imagine any suppressor dealer/manufacturer could assist me in the process. What I'm looking for is a .920 diameter barrel/integral suppressor for a 10/22. Can anyone point me to a...

      Rust Pits and Cerakote

Will Cerakote fill rust pits? I found that a single shot slug gun I have has gotten seriously rusted in a closet and I have always thought about painting it so this might be the time to do so.

Talk to me about .22LR revolvers.

I've had two High Standard .22 revolvers. A High Standard Sentinel and a High Standard Cam Gun in .22LR/.22Mag. Both were great guns and the Camp Gun was especially accurate. It was essentially the same as the Sentinel with a 6" barrel. Both are DA revolvers with DA styling. High Standard did...

      Muscatatuck Deer Hunting

I was drawn for a two day archery hunt a number of years ago. Nobody stuck a deer. If I remember right, my buddy and I had an area to ourselves. The Old Timbers lodge was fascinating though.

      Muscatatuck Deer Hunting

Not too many people remember Bill Scifres but I read his column avidly. Somewhere I have a signed copy of his book.

Gardeners - What are your go to power tools?

Has anyone tried rough-sawn oak boards for raised beds? I think I've read that white oak is somewhat resistant to decay.

Turkey Shoot at Bell Conservation Club in Nineveh

I thought this was a club for employees only. Was there once as a guest with a friend who worked for Bell Tele. or Western Electric or something.

What gun stuff did you buy today?

Finally found some .357 ammo (Armscor) at Rural King and bought it. Bought an Uncle Mikes holster for my Single Six at Sportsman's Warehouse (love that place). Then went and drove around Camp Aterrbury. I used to spend a ton of time there but don't think I've been there in 25 years. A lot has...

Reliving history - The tractors of our great-grandfathers

My dad was born in 1914 and told of using a Fordson at one time and a McCormick Deering 1020 at another. There were big steam tractors that came around at harvest time. They even had 6 teams of Belgians before they got the tractors. This was in central Nebraska. Unfortunately, the bank took the...
