Got the opportunity this week to do some load development with a 223 bolt gun and this Alliant 1200-R. Only problem is that data for this powder is very scarce for some reason.

Want to know if INGO has any experience / data with 1200 R in .223. Thanks.

What I see with my books and software is its good with light bullets up to 55 GR in 223 and my data stops with that. I would bet its right in the burn charts with Reloader 7, I've been loading a ****'ton of 223 the last few weeks with 55gn and 21 gn's of Reloader 7. I bought a few 5lb'ers from Brian a few years back just for this load.

Edit. Its a wee bit slower than Reloader 7, if you search you might find some data on heavier bullets.
    Please post what you find.

I’m also seeing that 1200 seems to only be loaded with light bullets.

The only similar powder I could find (according to Lee) is Norma 200. Which conveniently is also only loaded 55 and under and is also hard to find data for :faint:

Have you been to Brians store in Greentown?
He tends to have a pretty good stock of Shooters World powder most of the times.
You just dont know what he will have in stock, if you call and ask what you are looking for they will tell you if its in stock. But he generally has hundreds of pounds in the store.
If you plan of rolling through send me a PM and I will try to meet you and I'll buy lunch.

Contact Hornady ask their opinion on how much to start with for the 75gr bullets.
