Locally at a rural school district busses here turn at an angle blocking both lanes before they pickup or drop off kids.
We were told not to do that as it was illegal.

I was very well known for doing just that- I use to think a police officer would turn a blind eye to it.

I also turned my hazards and brights on along with the 8 ways when stopping on a main road.

My last year driving had the blinking head lights as well.

The only issue I have is with one bus driver who stops traffic, lets the kids off the bus, and then STEPS OFF THE BUS TO TALK TO THE PARENTS FOR 5-10 MINUTES. One time and I could understand. Every time is ridiculous.

Have a bad problem with this at my youngest bus stop. Wife became very proactive and filming the cars and license plates of the offenders and them posting them to the cities website and Facebook page. For awhile cops would follow the bus and even pull into oncoming lane to make sure no one could pass. That went by the way side after a year. They were supposed to add cameras that would activate when the arm starts to extend out and film from the backside of the sign so could get a plate number. Instead they installed front mounted cameras which do nothing since front plates are not a thing in Indiana. They did up the fines but our fine local judge doesn't enforce it when the douchebags do get caught.

Kids get killed every year from assholes going around a stopped bus.

If you go around a bus that is stopped with the arm extended you're a total **** and should lose your license for a minimum of a year, at minimum do community service, and pay a very hefty fine. If you kill someone while doing it I'm good with the death penalty.

    No excuse for not stopping.

    In the country, hopefully.
By me they are picked up and dropped off on their side of the road. It’s policy.
Eaaaasy ….. like I said I wasn’t saying go around just pointing out by me it is a pretty stupid law since no one crosses a road to get on a bus.
I’ll take it easy when you realize that the policy in your neck of the woods is rare, and if it says stop, it means stop for good reason, it’s not a stupid law. Maybe the people running the stop arms think this is the law, and furthering the rumor only hurts.
Not trying to make it personal, just trying to educate.

Yep. Same here. In my hood each and every stop has kids that cross the street. making a pickup so each kid never has to cross the street would lead to at LEAST 1.5x the time to pick up the kids because they'd have to drive down most streets twice so no kids ever had to cross the street.

Similiar, around here if a bus picks up 2 kids in 5 miles they’d double that to pick up the same 2 kids, so that’s not practical at all. It is also safe to say we’re pretty much self policing around here. More backhoes to bury the perps than there are school buses.

If my mod gig doesn't work out, I might do a business driving a childrens' school bus with an M134 Minigun mounted in a turret.

    Near the big river.
I occasionally drive a school bus, mostly field trips so picking up/dropping off students is not something I do regularly. However I have been brake checked, forced off the road and tailgated many times. One douche was mad we had to stop at all the rail crossings so when we hit the highway at speed he cut us off and forced me onto the side of the road.
Unfortunately there are no cameras on our busses currently and I can't carry a weapon......

Had one mad because a bus won't accelerate all that quick. He decided to use the left lane of a 4 lane rd to get in front of me to then go slow.

My bus at the time had the normal 2 headights but had 2 more dedicated for brights but all 4 would go to brights. He saw the light as the only place I would go was space currently being occupied by him.

He flew the bird then took off.
