You can't. Magnetometers will be out in full force. Only ON-DUTY LE allowed to be armed. This is for race day. Not certain this will be the case for Carb Day or the Saturday events. Penske's rules.

Sure you can! Just have to leave if asked to leave.

Not a lot anymore. Not sure HOW they are doing it. Only that they will be screening EVERYONE entering the property.

It's been a long time since I've been.

I was alway amazed by the "security show" where they were searching bags of folks walking through the gates while trucks loaded with propane tanks and who knows what were waived right on through!

I'm pretty mush past the days where I care to be around large crowds.

Penske is a big a-hole. He refuses to have the motorcycles (MotoAmerica) back at the track because some of them didn't follow the "Covid Rules" a few years back. :ugh:

They do have infield parking, but now you need a parking pass. Those are almost always sold out before they actually go on sale because people keep them via renewal. A few years ago they added a dirt oval track in turn 3 that removed a large portion of the available parking.

I have been to the last 16 races (cooties race with no fans not included) and parked in turn 3 each time (2021 sat in turn 3 grandstands) and not once has our vehicle been searched. I did walk in twice and met my group who was already parked in turn 3 and neither time was I seriously searched. Slid open the cooler and backpack, they took a quick glance and off we went. Carb Day I definitely remember them using the wands though.

With all that being said I have never taken a firearm into the track on race or Carb Day. I did have one when my family and I went to see the Christmas lights, but luckily Santa was cool and we didn't have to use deadly force that night.

Yeah, they've been testing various security measures in the past. We were told this year will be the first with the new security measures in place. We shall see.

Heard Doug Boles say this AM that the new Magnetometers will be out / employed most all month. They're supposed to be walk-through without needing to empty pockets. Supposed to be able to tote coolers through, too. Though I'm iffy on if I heard that correctly.
