I believe I'm sold on the A5 buffer system. Gives a bit more LOP and reduces the violence of the action while cycling. Not any more expensive than the standard buffer system with a couple of valid benefits. Vltor keeps running out of parts so I'm currently using a TRIARC tube, Geissele Super 43 rifle spring and a Vltor standard weight buffer. Switching out the TRIARC for an SOLGW this coming week. The TRIARC is a 5 position tube while the SOLGW is 7. Makes a difference to me.

It's just a PSA, but it's served me well for over 12 years and thousands of rounds. I've had "nicer" rifles that have come and gone, but this one sticks around because it does everything I need an AR to do, and does it reliably without drama.

Upgrades from the factory config include an Aimpoint PRO, Larue MBT-2S trigger, Magpul Mbuis, and a BFG Vickers sling. It's got a Streamlight Polytac mounted with an old scope ring, which has proven to be a light, cheap, and reliable setup. Controls are all basic mil-spec...everything I expect right where it's supposed to be with no unnecessary or confusing clutter.

I just handled an AR a few weeks ago with that very vertical grip on it and it was amazing.
I really like it. More natural angle for your wrist. The downside is it puts your hand closer to the trigger. If you have long monkey fingers like me there is a lot of finger left over when you go for the trigger. Another issue for some is it is a very thick grip. The palm swell is huge for smaller hands.

MBT-2S, geissele maritime bolt catch, a5 with a Magpul SL-K (or LWRC compact) for short ones or a2 for long ones. I like Midwest Industries handguards more than almost all the rest but I definitely have a Geissele Mk4 and it’s great (not at full price).

For sheer range fun, this is one of my favorite configurations (bottom rifle in the pic). It's an XM177E2 clone from Troy and is set up with a binary trigger that makes the auto selection useful.

My favorites as well. Some of the early Air Force shortys are pretty cool as well. Tony’s is making A1 uppers again. Was tempted to get another one at the last 1500 but I still need a couple lowers for the 2 I have.

LWRC ambi lower with upper being D/D 14.5 p/w with surefire warcomp. Trijicon 1-10 with mbuis.

I'll swap to the RIS3 rail (when the price mellows out) to drop some weight.

I missed that at the 1500. I'd love to pick parts up to build an Air Force version.
