I guess I assumed @bforgey0952 would understand when I mentioned sling shotting the slide earlier. Guess I should have explained better.
Well it more or less makes you practice it a certain way when you’re dryfiring with vs without a mag in (which is common sense) but I wasn’t even considering that. I was just being a moron when it comes to practicing the slingshot method, but the slide release is still so stiff that it’s unusable. Live and learn though I feel like an idiot for a minute I’d rather ask the dumb questions and feel stupid for a second than never figure it out and pretend like I knew…. So I do appreciate you guys feedback.

You are good. The issue isn’t with you.

Lots of folks get told wrong by those before them and they (and those before them) and sometimes get fixated on the small things or don’t know what they don’t know. The Slide release vs slide stop is one. Sling shot is one

The best example of terms that have been misused in shooting. The “WEAVER” stance

Wih that, I see and hear a ton of shooters argue over the Weaver when trying to explain it. And most get it wrong. What most everyone uses now is a “Modified Weaver. It looks nothing like when Jack Weaver came up with it. It’s just they don’t know what they don’t know.

As Lee Weems says a lot of shooters (who don’t know the history of Jeff Cooper and Jack Weaver) could watch Jack Weaver on film and say he was doing it wrong!!!

The inboard is really efficient with a RDS equipped pistol. Dave Spaulding recommends using the slide instead of the dot as folks when grabbing the dot have works it loose, or smudges the window up with sweat, debris etc. just something to consider
I will play around with tilting the pistol inboard to rack with an overhand grasp. Providing that is what you mean by "inboard".

I have been told before that about loosening the dot by grabbing it. I have a hard time thinking that is a reality when the recoil of the slide when firing is much more violent than manually racking the slide.

I wonder if the guys who use the dot against a hard object to rack the slide experience the dot getting loose? Would be a good question for Aaron Cowen, lol.

Yes I boarding is basically holding it sideways with the slide and sights going toward your midection. And pinching the back is the slide.

While using the Dot doesn’t seem like a bad thing continued use of that (like in a 1 or 2 day 500-1,000 round class) you will put more force in it over time than the slide moving back and forth (though that’s also an issue if one doesn’t install the mounting screws properly) as your actually hitting the RDS with your hand.

As far as hitting the RDS against an object I recommend against it and I took Dave Spaulding’s RDS class. Dave is against it as well and gave an example of a Chicago copper in class that di that striking the RDS on a 4x4 barricade and after just 1 or 2 times was looking at a shatter RDS that he had bought none Department issue. Dave stated he asked the guy why he did that. Guy was doing what that guy does on YouTube. It’s presumed he ment Cowen but what some folks don’t take into account Sage Dynamics is trying to see when they break and goes above and beyond what a normal dropping a gun would be

Yeah, I won't rack my slide on anything, I just mentioned it. I am typically careful with me stuff overall. For some things I have to remind myself to use a little force like hitting the bolt release on an AR vs gently pushing it.

I did a few reps today. It's a little strange feeling to me since when I am dropping a mag and inserting a fresh one, I have the pistol angled outward. Doesn't seem intuitive or quick to then turn the pistol inwards to drop/rack the slide.

    I'll work on it.
