Thoughts on the shield ez 2.0? If you’ve carried one comment your thoughts.

Yea I enjoy carrying it but I hate having to carry extra mags, it being single stack and all..

I've carried the 380 shield for over year. Qualified with the local pd with it. Think yours is dirty? Man it looks new compared to mine. Life on the farm is a dirty job and it has done it all without a hiccup. OWB, leather DeSantis holster with snap strap, very comfortable daily carry gun.

You should always carry an extra mag single stack or not. I carried single stack Shield (1911 way before that) for years always with a spare. Shield Plus has become main edc now, and with extra mag.

Yea it’s only 8+1 which is a problem but I’ve been looking at these +2 baseplates they make for it. It’s just such a big difference as to when I would carry my g17 because you get 15+1 but I enjoy the concealment at the cost of having to carry extra mags.

My Wife has Lupus but the EZ is one she can actually use with zero issues.

I teach private classes and the only 2 quirks. 1 and minor the 380 needs to have a dovetailed front sight. They do break and are not made to last for folks that shoot a couple boxesof rounds a month.

My main main quirk is the way the grip safety works . Since it pins and pivots from the bottom a lot of older female shooters (who it’s sort of marketed to) with the thumbs forward grip a lot of the time they don’t have and can’t get a tight enough grip to disengage the safety.

To the point about half the time I have to have them do the revolver thumbs down grip. Then there is no way not to disengage the grip safety.

I mentioned to the S&W rep I wish they would machine a raised bump or spine into and running down the center of the grip safety the whole way much like a memory bump on a 1911 beaver tail OR some who pin it at the top like a 1911 which would take a lot more re engineering.

That’s the only quirks

With an easy racking slide, why wouldn't you just sling shot it to release the slide?

The EZ is at and bad as a standard shield but with the tight springs even the Hulk can’t use it as a slide release. Every firearm is different but the over hand or sling shot works in 100% of all handguns your just gonna have to change it up.


With the advent of Red Dots Dave Spaulding (and many places have followed) is inboard slid manipulation. Basically you rotate the pistol sideways slightly too if slide towards center line (like your shooting gangster but your not shooting) your hands work more naturally that way and with the traditional overhand, push pull or what I call slingshot method. Also find what works for you. I just pointed out what I have observed over the years by some folks. There’s always A way. If someone is adamant about theirs is THE WAY I’d seek other input!

In the grand scheme of things it is t going to be a factor so as long as you are proficient with YOUR way the time difference can be minuscule

No worries about the dirt… I shot my M&P last week, and a cloud of lint flew when I shot it…. Carried daily, cleaned when needed… real world testing…. Yeah, that’s it ….

I was using my support hand to drop the slide on two of my pistols. Worked great. Then I bought a pistol where I couldn't. So I was losing time dropping the slide one way and another depending on the pistol.

I have gone back to overhanding everything. And with most of my pistols having a red dot, I just use the dot to rack it.

I really liked dropping the slide with my support hand thumb, especially on my 1911, but for me consistency is key.

It's amazing what I "lost" by trying a different method. I still need to consciously remind myself to overhand the slide. It will come back though.

The inboard is really efficient with a RDS equipped pistol. Dave Spaulding recommends using the slide instead of the dot as folks when grabbing the dot have works it loose, or smudges the window up with sweat, debris etc. just something to consider
