Can't help as too far away and busy anyhow, but why are you replacing? If it is leaking maybe pull the valve instead? Easier to do and cheaper as well.

As for sweating the copper I am a fan of shark bites, as long as you have access to them. Makes it easier to replace if needed. No fire in the house either.

Oh and as for the wallpaper, my daughter would probably want that in her house... reto is a thing that should not be.

    1) Why? The shower/tub valve is probably original to the house. Leaks inside the wall. I have had limited success with the replacement cartridges. My wife already bought replacement shower sets, so....

    2) I've used the shark bite things in the kitchen work pretty well.

    3) She can have the "retro". I lived in that decade already.

If this wasn't going to be hidden behind fresh drywall, I'd take a swing at it. I HATE plumbing, though. I'd rather pay a pro than risk ripping it out a second time to re-fix my fix.

Sorry I just seen this. eldirector probably has it done by now.......but that looks like it would be a fairly simple faucet install. If I were doing that, I would shut off water, cut off the 2 supply lines and pull old unit out. Then you can remove guts of new faucet and solder all your new parts on a work bench, matching it to exactly like old unit. I would then use shark bites to re-attach the supply lines. The reason I like shark bites on these is because of water in supply lines. I am not a plumber, and I always struggle soldering when water is present. Sorry I did not see this until now.......I have been pretty busy last couple of weeks.

    I live in Lake County.

I have had three different local independent contractors rip me off and ghost me after taking pay for a job. One is currently in jail for being busted for marijuana trafficking I am quite disillusioned at the moment.

We are trying to finish a remodel on a second, small bathroom. What is left to do is fairly easy. The dry wall is all hung and mudded, with a small portion still needing sanding. They need primed and painted also. There is a small medicine cabinet and vanity to install. The shower is to be paneled. The only possible difficult part is replacing the exhaust fan. We have a replacement, but getting it in and working will take some thinking about it. The only electrical work is hooking up the cabinet lights to the existing wiring. The exhaust fan is plug and play.

This is a one-day job. I can provide pics of the room if requested.

Nothing involving drywall and paint is a one-day job. What part of the county are you in?

The drywall is all put in, as noted in the post. There is no other drywall work except for a small bit of sanding. The room itself is only 40 square feet. It would take the world's slowest workman to make this into a major job. But thank you for responding as you did. It does help in it's own way.

I think he's referring to the mudding dry time, which can be 24 hours.

If you have fresh drywall you really should prime it before anything goes over it — panels, tile or final paint. Not a one day job but could be done in maybe 2 partial days. Just my 2 cents after 5 diy bathroom remodels.

Good luck, good small job contractors are hard to find.

The primer states it is ready to paint over after a few hours but I am more than willing to let the expert decide how he wants to approach it. I certainly don't mind someone doing it over several evenings as a quick side gig to pick up some extra dollars. I just want it done.

There were much better choices in the phrasing of his post if that was his intent.
Ok, rather than paraphrase - I'm in the middle of an entire house remodel. My opinion on the work described is that it is not a 1 day job and yes due to dry time and paint. You want to prime, and paint, and work in a small room in one day. I personally don't think it's practical. Sure, prime and work on other stuff for 2 hours, paint, wait 2 hours, paint finish coat. Small room, cut in time for brush work sucks... But i'm very particular and i've painted a lot of stuff and it always takes longer than you think it will. Then put up shower walls, install vanity and the plumbing for it i'm guessing, hope the electric is just disconnect and reconnect and install a light and an exhaust fan all while the paint is drying? Not practical and time flies. Any time someone says it's "simple" or "just swap it out" you have to ask why didn't they just do it themselves. I meant no offence by my other post, nor this one. I'm just making a realistic comment on your expectations. Fan should be done first incase any drywall is messed up during the install since you mention it may take some thinking... If you are estimating 8 hours is a day's work ok, maybe so, but it needs to be cut into a couple days most likely and then you lose (or add depending on which side you are on) drive time and setup/tear down time.

Whoever you have do this and for your info...you can't use just any paint in a bathroom because of mold an such moisture prs that are unavoidable. Hope you had the proper drywall installed.

NEEDED: Water mitigation and/or or kitchen remodeling contractor that can do mitigation work and work with insurance.

No, this is not related to my plumbing questions up-thread! Our dishwasher decided to dump water under the kitchen cabinets, and make a huge mess. Insurance looks like they will cover some mitigation and repairs. Need to find someone reputable to do the work. I've only worked with one other mitigation company, and it was a mess.

Anyone in the business, or have a recommendation? I'm also hitting the google machine, and making calls.

Anyone interested in moving a large/heavy piece of furniture? Load it on trailer at the store where I purchased it (plainfield). Then move it from the trailer, up one flight of straight stairs, to my office (mooresville). I will pay $100. Counting drive time between store and office, it will take an hour or less.
