Studies do not show that trails contribute to increased crime. We understand that guns do not commit crime, well neither do trails.

I don't want a study. I want a leg to stand on when crime is happening in my neighborhood vs. being told it's a public area and none of my business.

Let me know when you start protesting the positioning of public roads as they are a much bigger source of crime and a public area that is none of your business.

Really? You are going to use the tragic deaths of these girls to blame trails. You sound like a mom needing action.

You sound like you'd rather argue about a trail that you really don't care about. You have no skin in the game other than wanting an argument online. If it fails, will you suffer a loss?

I have been having these discussions with trail NIMBY’s for over 25 years and have never once seen their fears borne out.

Most people get names on monuments.
Don’t get me wrong. I think this project is a boondoggle. I believe ED should be used in very, very limited situations and building parks isn’t one of them. I think it’s a vanity project for the governor so that he’ll have something with his name on it after he’s gone. But this is going to happen and it will have the full weight of the state behind it to make sure it does. Few, if any republican, will voice much of a ruckus of this because they perceive many conservative constituents support this kind of spending and a governor of their party supports it. It’s going to happen.

God gave me this property in the first place. Maybe he changed his mind?

I’m not sure what your contending and I can’t say whether God has acted one way or another in your case, obviously. But men have always acted in opposition to God. Republicans have too often acted in ways that contradict the purported pillars of their party.

Nope. It makes better people want to live in those areas, usually increasing property values…
Uh. Well. Not that I’m “better people” but I don’t steal or damage other people’s stuff, and I don’t harass, assault or otherwise harm people. I’m not moving to a **** hole just to be closer to trails. That’s basically gentrification promoting schtick used to justify trails with promises of grand results. I ain’t buying it.

They make fun of Louisville and New Albany's bike lanes. Now they want to make the biggest bike lane ever through almost 60 miles of corn field and meth lab.
I have NEVER seen a soul riding a bike in the bike lane along Spring Street in New Albany. Maybe some do use it. Since they added the bike lanes, whatever usage they do get, it’s rare enough that no one is using it when I’m there. I’ve been tempted to throw the bike in the Truck and drive down there to put my tax dollars to work.

Maybe you need to get out more. They built the trail in Indy, then some entrepreneurs said let’s brew beer in that derelict old building near the trail, then folks said the homes here are cheap and we can fix them up. Like magic in dozens of neighborhoods in Indy.

The bad neighborhoods between Broad Ripple and downtown are all better than when the trails were put in. Many similar neighborhoods did not get better. Homes for sale or lease within 2-3 miles away still promote access to the Monon trail, guess they are all a part of the schtick…
