I’ve used this guy a few times

Has anyone used this guy in the somewhat recent past? I reached out to him back in mid-2020 following recommendatios here, after getting another quote from an Indy-area lock & safe company that quoted me more to move it than the safe itself cost.

Jim was helpful at first and asked for a ton of details, all of which I provided, but then he ghosted me. Did not return any calls or texts after two months of trying to get in touch with him, so I finally gave up.

I had a similar experience back in a similar time frame if I recall correctly.

I bought a gun safe (cannon 48 gun) at Tractor Supply, and I need a mover to get it into my basement. I heard about "Nick of Time Moving" but they have some bad reviews on google. Are there any good local companies you guys know about? I'm on the North side of Indy. The safe I want moved is 500lbs.

Also, this is my first post here. Hello.
Howdy and welcome aboard! 500# safe...good luck with that!
I bought a pair of Winchester safes (26 gun and just under 300# each) to put in the basement.
Had a couple of the Amish neighbors help move them in. They helped move the 3 pieces of slate for the pool table down at the same time...saved the back, that's for sure!

Oh dang, I’ve not used him in quite a while. But he did move mine 3 times on the past. Good to know though, maybe I’ll not recommend him if this is a pattern

Yeah it was a head scratcher to say the least. But that was May, June 2020 so I was a bit concerned he got hit hard with covid or something. I've not tried reaching out to him recently.

I've also used the stair-climber from sunbelt. I wouldn't use it alone but that's more for guiding it than strength.

When I had to move mine, I used professional safe & vault aka vaultmover.com mentioned above. pricey but he had the knowledge and toys to get it done quickly without damage. This was 4-5 years ago.

I never did find anyone to move my 800lb safe. I sold it and lesson learned. Better to have several small ones you can hide around, move yourself. Not have all your eggs in one basket and no problems moving.

I just tied a rope to the truck and to the dolly the backed it down the garage stairs. Something satisfying about doing it in flip flops by yourself… no matter what happened it was ending up In the basement

Just got off the phone with the guy from http://www.johnsonsafes.net/. Very nice guy and he agreed to do it for much less than what other companies were quoting me. One place quoted me over 700 dollars, lol. Thanks to everyone who recommended him. Will update when the move is complete.
Long overdue update. It went off without a hitch. I will warn you though - I didn't know what I was getting in to when he asked me if I would be able to "help" over the phone. I had to be on the bottom end of the safe moving it down the stairs. Everything was fine but I didn't exactly feel safe. I'm not blaming the guy, he was very nice and professional - but unless you trust a total stranger not to drop a 500lb safe on your head, I would suggest opting out of "helping". I think he charges more if he hast to bring a helper, but it's worth it. Plus, it only cost me $280 and he even used his trailer to bring it to my house.

after getting my safes in the basement, removing doors, took out stairs, used a table lift that was hydraulic, it has been decided if we ever sell and move they will stay here. Make sure you have a basement that will not flood!!!!!! there was five of us moving them down >

Well it appears you came to the rite place for help. Hope you post more often and fill us in on your shooting endeavors. Best of luck.
