Well, that is still a "budget". A kinda higher budget, but still a budget! Keep us posted on the build.
LOL Good Point. It is still a "budget". Once I get the Cerekote done and add an optic I'm sure I'll be way outta line with my budget build. Oh well. Maybe I should call it a non-Gucci build instead.

I ordered a Nightforce NX8 showroom demo at a decent price. I've been watching auctions for a while and found that I could get one cheaper on Nightforces website.
    I had a Nightforce SHV 4-14X 50mm F1 Scope on a 308 I put together... N I C E... Congratulations on the deal you found!

A Toolcraft DLC (Diamond Like Coating) 5.56mm Bolt Carrier Group with 9130 bolt. Everything is DLC except the chrome hardened firing pin. Along with it, an Aero Precision AR-15 "Mil-Spec" Charging Handle in black phosphate. Nothing special about the charging handle. It's identical to the one found on every USGI M16 and M4. Became a fan of the DLC after buying one a while back as it has natural lubricity and holds lubricant well. My first Toolcraft, I disassembled it to clean, inspect and check basic form and fit.

Removed the extractor and checked 5.56mm head space using min and max gauges in the upper it in which it will be used. Closed on the min and wouldn't close on the max. As for the Charging Handle, it's a charging handle, and runs smoothly after some lube on it and in the upper.

magpul flip up iron sights for me and my best gal's ar 15s (4 sets)
and they say chivalry is dead! HA!
Funny you should mention Magpul flip ups... I was just thinking today I might add a set to this build coming up.
I haven't had a set on my guns in years and thought it would make for a nice change, aesthetically

it's not really chivalry...it's closer to fear. this is not a stereotype...she is puerto rican.

i got her into shooting about 4 yrs ago. she took to it like a tick to deer. anything gun related i buy she wants to know why i didn't buy one for her...chest rig, mag pouches, ammo

    guns we have in common:

    sig p229 .40,
    sig p320 9mm
    s&w m&p shield pc .40,
    16 & 10.5 in 300blk,

she has relieved me of various holsters, optics, and tools for the guns that are "her's".
    a sig p938 & a s&w mp15

and she thinks she has convinced me i should give her my s&w 5906 as a valentine's gift.

she also has her mind set on my p220 carry

I received my new Teslong bore scope yesterday.
    Better block out two weeks!

Took me that long to get all of my "clean" bores at least passably clean. I was shocked at just how tenacious some carbon rings were, and the amount of copper, cleaning in the blind, had left.

Certainly makes you more confident about the condition of your bores when you can see them.

I've spent all evening ordering parts for my new build with the INGO lower. All the lower parts are ordered. Tomorrow or Thursday, the upper parts. I'm calling this a budget build but it's looking like I'll be about $1500 into it before optics once it's all said and done. Keeps me off the streets and out of mischief, right?!
When you finally get done with it a year in let us know how low this budget build is.
I have over 2k in an Aero Precision AR-10 upper and lower just adding parts I wanted.
I could have just saved up a few hundred more for a Daniel Defense .

LOL I'll be done within a month from now and I'm at the 2K mark with the optic and misc. stuff on this too. I rephrase my original description... not so much a "budget" build as a (somewhat) less Gucci build than I would normally do. LOL I was thinking just this afternoon, "you know, I could have picked up a BCM for less $$" but we all know there is a satisfaction in building your own personal gun. In addition I would have swapped out numerous parts of a BCM of a DD or whatever for parts I specifically want on an AR so I'd still be putting $$ into even a nice production gun. I've already accepted a long time ago I just can't build a true, honest to goodness, budget gun. I just can't do it. I need help! Help Me! I'm weak. LMAO

i was beginning to think my name was "what?!? they didn't have two?"
LOL A phrase I often hear: "Mommy Like".
At that point I know the fix is in. I'll need to be adopting a new paradigm.
    Hornswoggled by love. Again. Dang

Yeah, I'm kinda dreading the moment when I learn what's in there.
