Following the various NFA approval trackers, it would appear from the user supplied info that form 1s have not been getting approval since around 1/12/23 ( at least have not seen anyone post such between here, Reddit r/NFA, NFA tracker etc.). Anyone have any insight or seen approvals or form1s?

If it’s true, it just seems more and more like they’re setting up this pistol brace ruling for a mass takedown of people.

If your approval is denied 88 days after it’s submitted if no progress is made with it, an artificial backlog would almost guarantee more people being denied, thus more pistol owners being turned in to felons

Either that, or they’re making an honest effort to halt other applications to “clear the way” to process brace applications. But there’s still no way they’re going to be able to process them all in time, so I still strongly believe it’s a setup. :dunno: Either way, a lot of people are getting screwed.

I filed a week ago tomorrow. My first time…. Is it a good sign that my card has already been charged my $200 fee?
I’ve never filed (don’t own anything NFA yet), but no. They’ll cash your check as fast as possible so they get their money, but it could still take over a year to get anything back. They gotta fund their attacks on the Constitution somehow, right?? :lmfao::abused:

Well, I didn't go for the freebie stamp. I filed the regular form 1 and payed the $200. Not sure if that makes any difference. I hope I don't lose my spot in the queue to the free-filers.
I have regular SBR stamps pending too, it seems that all the form 1 stuff has been halted.

Part of me wonders if it’s just government updating and educating to the examiners in preparation for the brace nonsense.. but it can’t be that simple especially since the last form 1s were approved the day before the brace announcement posted

This is correct. If you get denied, you get refunded your $200. The gubment gets that money upfront tho

Well unless shady crap goes on I should be approved…. I’m 53 and have never even been delayed on a 4473 and passed a background check by the feds to work in a military plant as well so (fingers crossed)

I cant imagine that the 88 day rule would start from the day you hit "submit". Its GOT to be when they actively start the review of your submission. That would be pretty much a guarantee of lots of felons. once the rule is published. Depending on how much tinfoil you are wearing depends on your view.

As an IT guy, the stoppage and outage is most likely them ramping up for the new rules. They have to at LEAST create a new process for not sending in $200.

    eForm 1 Brace Ruling

    January 19, 2023
We are currently working on adjusting our eForm 1 tool to work with the Tax-Exempt Stamps for the ATFs Brace Ruling. The current tool will not work with Tax-Exempt stamps, so please hold off until we post an update here that it is available.

It appears that all form1s have been halted or no approvals outgoing, with the last one being process that I have found on 1/12/23.
I’m not referring to the new pistol brace SBR silliness..

For a while the end of last year, we were seeing Carol the ripper approve form1s in as little as 6 days!

And who makes the determination of that rule? Is it the same people that have already made completely different rule’s recently? Because if so you have a lot more faith in them than I do or ever will.

I don’t fully understand the 88 day rule for approval.. The ATF runs 2 3 and 4 hundred days all the time for approval. It’s almost as if it’s planned gatekeeping

Washington Gun Law on YouTube put out a video essentially disproving this theory. I didn't get it either because virtually NO form 4s are approved within 88 days so how could anyone ever NOT get denied with what was being said?

Basically he said the 88 day rule is because of a law put into place for form 4473's and it being an auto deny at 90 days, so at 88 days the system purges all data from the 4473 and you get denied to avoid them storing the data past 90 days.

    Here's the video,
