I've got family there, can't avoid it. It helps I can currently use my Indiana LTCH permit for my Ruger LC9s within my car. Does this rescind that exception?
    (Video #2)
    (Video #1)

These are two video from Todd Vandermide who for many years was the NRA lobbyist in Illinois. He is now thelobbyist for the gun industry and FFL's there in Illinois. Not widely known here in Indiana but he has been "The Man" in Illinois 2A circles, He will explain what is going on there from an Illinois resident perspective.
Video #2 is where he explains the magazine bad and if you have two or more banned mags it is a class two felony. I do not know how all this will affect a non-resident car carry but I am guessing it will only affect those that carry with a mag holding over 10 rounds. NO, I am not sure of that, Illinois is noted for passing vague laws then working out the details later. The D's have a super majority in the House and Senate so the R's have no real say in this or anything. The only thing that helps their situation is most of the southern D;s are very pro gun. Jim.

I live on the border and work in IL so I try to be as familiar with their laws as I can. From what I understand your IN LTCH means nothing in IL. Right now all guns must be unloaded and ammo not in the same container as the gun. From what I have heard the new way will be unload mags and still keep everything in separate containers and out of the driver/passengers reach so trunk or back. The LEOs in my particular area aren't going to harass you on this unless you are committing a crime other than a traffic violation, Chicago area is probably a different story.

    You are incorrect.

Their carry law included a provision allowing out of state residents, licensed in their states, to carry in their car. There are a number of threads here that discussed it.

My question is how does this change going forward?

If I understood the video correctly, this is an assault weapons bill. Not a concealed carry bill. So I suppose whatever gun a guy decides to carry will have to be something that does not meet the definition of assault weapon. Sounds like Illinois is about to become a 1911 state.

The way I understand it as of now you may carry your Glock 17 in your vehicle in Illinois with your Indiana Carry License. When this passes and I guess it will the same gun and magazine will be illegal because it holds more than 10 rounds. If you have an extra mag with you that will be a class 2 felony.
I also have friends and relatives in Illinois so when this passes I will be carrying something with 10 rounds or less. Jim.

Some 'butter/fudd' comments from the first linked article...

I would say you're a little late there 'Robert and David'... Your D buddies in the IL legislature 'F-cked' you.

    Keep voting for them stupid.

It is amazing how many people are not aware of that the democrats are doing to them and this country, and continue to blindly vote D.

But can you carry your Glock 17 with 10 round magazines? I didn’t see where the gun itself is an assault weapon. So is it a gun that can accept magazines more then 10 rounds? Or is it ARs are bad regardless and magazines more then 10 rounds are illegal?

I travel to IL quite a bit on business. Looks like my Walther PPS has become a dedicated IL pistol.

So, is Illinois going to stop every incoming nonresident vehicle at the state line to check for guns?
If we travel west, are we going to do it via Kentucky?
The current FOID and CCL violators are not caught until in the act of some other crime.
What can we do about the proposed legislation? I doubt that they will listen to input from nonresidents.

No. But if you do get stopped and they investigate and you’re not in compliance - it could be bad for you.

Do the speed limit. Obey the laws. “Nothing to worry about.”
