So now a generic turban guy drawing with no notable facial features is automatically Bin Laden.

You really ought to put down the shovel.

    :):
Can you name a single other turban-wearing AK-47-weilding person who's made it into the public eye in any significant way in this country?

And no, I don't care how deep I dig myself into being a "racist" in your book.

    I miss the mouse.
He was a good man. This thread is an odd place for that sentiment, though.

I sold him a scope back before the covid thing. Talked with him a while, had a good chat. He did more for this site than most people know, and all simply out of the goodness of his heart. I thought it sad that he had to put up with man-children calling or texting him on his personal cell phone because their fragile little feelings were hurt by something they read on the internet.

I hope that's not why you miss him.

This isn't a 1st Ammedment issue. If the Government decreed that we can't put things like this on our cars, or that we must put things like this on our cars - THEN it would be a 1A issue.

I personally would like to talk to this driver.

I keep wondering if that's his ultimate goal - to bait others into engaging him.

A.) Others engage him with conversation, and he has a shtick about how he's not a radical muslim, but everyone pre-judges him that way based on appearance. Maybe he quickly shares a little about who he, and many who 'look like him', really are.

B.) Others engage him with hate, and maybe he's fine with where that goes as well.

IF that's what this guy is doing, I'd shake his hand. He's got a pair of balls. I can respect that.

Now... If the driver climbed out of the cab wearing a MAGA hat (or 'headgear') and a VOTE TRUMP! pin

    ...then I'd REALLY be impressed!

I met Tim years ago as one of the guys I worked with at Otis grew up in Speedway. His mom was the manager at the Speedway Hotel.
They knew each other, I was at the shop and his compound on a few occasions myself.
He truly did a lot that most dont know, I teased him many times about working that many hours for free, we had some great discussions in his little garage or leaning on his sil's buick in the driveway.
It was fun to stop in and see him and bring a old Colt match 1911 with me. Here Tim see if you can do a trigger this nice. He'd snap it a few times... Tell me to f myself, laugh and the topic would change.
Tim was a good guy, he was a great addition to the local gun world.

Free speech allows for ignorance and bigotry. Yet 7 pages of ridicule for one man giving his opinion about two pictures. He's been labeled an intolerant, racist, bigoted, uneducated 'mercan! All for sharing an opinion covered by the first amendment. Worse yet, he's apologized while explaining his mistaken identity of the pictures on the truck, but still, not good enough. In a country where the fbi claims gadsden flags and Betty Ross flags to be signs of extremism, finding unease in a picture of unknown middle eastern men, appearing angry and with arms, warrants burning the heretic at the stake. And doing it while claiming to have a level of superior acceptance.
...And the true value of free speech has been received again!

Both the truck driver and the OP expressed themselves. This led to others expressing themselves. I, for one, learned some valuable things over the 7 pages you speak of, and I'll take that value with me into the future. I'm better off. I suspect many other readers are better off. Some of that may lead to making the world better off.

A great example of exactly how it should work and why it's important, however messy or uncomfortable it seems on the surface.

Muslims wear Shemaghs not Turbans at least the ones I seen. They wear other headgear as well like a Kufi, and Taqiyah.

What's the headdress that Bin Laden's wearing in this photo called? Is it a shemagh without the covering piece? (Google isn't being much help to me right now; literally the first photo that came up when I typed "turban" into google images is a guy wearing the same shemagh as in your first photo, lol.)

I admit I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject; I've called this a turban more than once in my life:

To my limited knowledge of this subject the shemagh is mostly middle-eastern, and is used to keep the sun off the head, and neck.
It is long enough and has what I'll call a tail that can be wrapped around the nose and mouth to keep dust, and sand out.
The Turban is a headdress that is used by Indians and some Asians.
It may have been a sort of head protection used in the past, and my understanding it was originally made from thick wool.
    Both are very old custom.

I feel like the neckbeard may be the thing that brings Muslims, Sikhs and Rednecks together. One interest in common may be all it takes.

    Wow, this got outta hand!

At @armalitesheepdog : you made a mistake, I called you out for it, and you’ve apologized. Not that it matters one bit, but apology accepted and lesson learned, I think. I don’t think you’re a bad guy for making the mistake. Hell, you’re not a bad guy even if you WERE prejudice against them for some reason. Flawed? Sure. But aren’t we all? For whatever it’s worth, I was distraught at your ignorance, not at you personally. People need to learn to stop, step back, and analyze a bit sometimes, and I think you’ve demonstrated that you’re willing to do that. Bravo, may we all follow your example (I’m being genuine here)!

@ Everybody else who’s dog piled on: yeah, this was a bone-headed post. Part of my frustration with it was how quickly society has learned to judge and create division amongst themselves. My post calling the OP out wasn’t intended to cause a divide, and I apologize that it did. Just as the OP has learned, I must learn, too: I’ll try to express myself in a less aggressive manner next time unless I KNOW harm was intended in the post I’m replying to.

Now, in the immortal words of Jean-Claude Van Damme, “Can’t we all just get along?” :)
