I bought a gun safe (cannon 48 gun) at Tractor Supply, and I need a mover to get it into my basement. I heard about "Nick of Time Moving" but they have some bad reviews on google. Are there any good local companies you guys know about? I'm on the North side of Indy. The safe I want moved is 500lbs.

Also, this is my first post here. Hello.

We have have used Colt Moving to move some heavy furniture up from the basement. I think they have a 2 hour/2 man minimum. Don’t know if they would do it but might be worth a call.

Independence safe company may be able to direct you but when I checked with them the delivery charge when buying a safe from them was likey 1/2 to 3/4 of what you paid for your safe.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I talked to Colt moving earlier, I'm gonna take photos and get a quote from them tomorrow. I will also try Johnson Safes, it says on their website that they might do moving depending on where and how big.

I have that safe, but older and half the price. I used a 2 wheeler and a strap, but I don't have a basement. Walked it off the skid, laid it down in the truck, took the tailgate off and flipped it on the porch, drug it in.
Im with you, two years ago I needed to expand.
Took reverse out in the little truck backing up in the soft grass. lol had to come along the truck and trailer out of the corner of the fenced in yard after that happened.
1,000 safe, two come alongs, a few round wood rollers , Johnson Bar and a chubby 62 year old man. Through the swing door, down a hallway through another doorway turn it and pull it to a corner.

Not sure if Blythes would move a safe not purchased from them. But you could call and see who they use. Did a very nice job with mine. Might also help knowing what part of the state you live in.

If it wasn't for the basement, I would probably do it myself. Hell, I still might be doing it myself if I can't find someone who will do it for less than $500. One place quoted me $700.

Might also help knowing what part of the state you live in.

    Welcome to INGO @inshooter97 !

I know you mentioned Colt moving, just wanted to share that I have used them to move some shop equipment in the past and was very satisfied.

Another trick I wanted to pass along that a friend shared: If you need to move a safe to a location that is on the same floor/level of house, put golf balls under it. Unlike wood dowels/rods, golf balls can roll in any direction you choose.

Thats a good idea, one might not want to do that with wood or ceramic tile floors.

    Very Good point!

I was fortunate that with my current safe, I have a walk-out basement. Unfortunate that I had to get the thing down the side yard by myself. And I had to take the sliding panel off the patio door.

When I moved my safe I put a dolly under the door and strapped it to it and removed the door. It reduced the weight a lot and made the main body easily movable. A refrigerator dolly was used for that.
