They just had a 942. I can't remember the price. I have gotten some pretty good deals there. Sign up and use the offer system to get the best price.

I picked up a Taurus 942UL in 22LR a couple years ago. It is one of my favorite little guns to shoot. Shoots fast and accurate and it never fails. I actually think the trigger is pretty good on it, better than any jframe .22 trigger I've tried.
I've been watching for another one on occasion, searching the entire web.... they are hard to find....
The other thing that is nice is I added the front night site for like $30 from Taurus, simple roll pin installation.

Yes, those would be ideal as my normal carry is a 642,......I'm just choking on the price tag. I can buy 642s all day long for $300. Can't wrap my mind around the same gun with smaller holes being worth almost 3x the money. I understand availability and commonality and all that jazz,.......I just don't like feeling like a sucker. And I'm a died-in-the-wool S&W guy but I'm a bargain hunter as well. I've probably owned a hundred S&W wheelguns but I don't know if I've ever bought one new. No bargains seem to be available in .22LR or WMR.
    Ain't that the truth.

    642s for 300?
Cheapest used one I saw in a shop was 450.
    But it was like new.

Reg gun shops. Not pawn shop.

Always thought a 4" .22 mag 651 would be a cool trail rig.
Passed on one yrs ago, w mastodon ivory grips.

    Wasn't cheap but not horrible.............then.

    Way more money now LOL
    That one kinda haunts me.

Will do, thanks. They do seem to have a wide assortment and many of the prices aren't bad. All of my regular go-to shops around here have died off or changed hands and become worthless. I'm always looking for older stuff and I guess a shop can't survive peddling anything besides black plastic.

Picked up the Taurus 94 this afternoon and stopped by the range on my way home to burn a few cylinders. Shoots nice, all my shots inside a paper plate fast or slow from 15'-40' no matter. That's all I'd ask of a 2" snub and my being able to see the sights or the target, but not both at the same time. Double action pull is better than I was expecting. Ejection of the first nine was fine, but the next four wheels took some judicious banging on the bench to unstick. Maybe dirty(don't think so). Maybe the old Blazer ammo(smokes like an old cap-n-ball). Blast off nine rounds and have to literally step aside to see around the smoke cloud. Bet a change in ammo will help. If not, nine-for-sure and I'll continue to search for my 'New York Reload'.

Their prices can be from great to awful, but I've picked up a few I'm happy with. Just cleaned them out of 3 Marlin Model 60s they had. Winter project, getting them to run correctly and play with refinishing.

The guy who deals with the guns is Frank and he's a pretty good guy.

It's probably fine as a plinker but it's not what I'm looking for as a training understudy to my 642. I want something DA and pocketable. Ideally, I'd like something that doesn't offer a single action function at all. Sadly, that's mostly Smith or Ruger. Charter makes a hammerless revolver but I don't know if they make it in .22.

In a PERFECT world, someone would reintroduce the old 1890's Forehand and Wadsworth in an 8 or 9 rd .22LR. I've got one in .32 and one in .38 and they're the most ergonomic handguns I've ever handled. Always liked the tip-up revolvers and these have a fantastic latching mechanism. Rather than lifting up on a delicate little latch you press down with your thumb on the 'hammer cover' to release. Slick!

I've had two High Standard .22 revolvers. A High Standard Sentinel and a High Standard Cam Gun in .22LR/.22Mag. Both were great guns and the Camp Gun was especially accurate. It was essentially the same as the Sentinel with a 6" barrel. Both are DA revolvers with DA styling. High Standard did make some DA revolvers with single action six gun look but I never cared for that. If you could find one somewhere, I think you would enjoy one.

If you like older .22 handguns, consider a H&R 999 Sportsman Deluxe. DA/SA, .22 cal, 9 shot, and it's a top break model as well. Fun to shoot and accurate as well. HKS makes a speedloader for it and the cylinder is easily removed for easy cleaning. Had mine foro years and love it.

I am looking at both the Sentinel and the H&R 999. The Sentinel can be had in a 'small' 2" version and I'm currently watching a couple of them. The 999 seems only to be in a belt holster size config, all steel,.....nice but larger and heavier than I'm looking for right now. Not that I wouldn't pick one up if I found a deal on one. Just not the niche I'm trying to fill right now.

OP - there is a H&R 999 Sportsman in our classifieds. It's an older model. I have a 999 from 1978. 1st revolver I ever purchased. Great plinker. Took some squirrels with it too!
    I know you mentioned wanting a pocket-able .22, but......

Enjoyed reading of your .22LR journey, kaveman.
I'm quite the fan of the .22LR & have enjoyed everything you & others have mentioned.
I have had multiples of some of the guns mentioned or especially in the H&R case, different models.

I have sold down to keeping only a Dan Wesson 8", 54 oz beast of a .22LR revolver & ironically enough, a gun I bought only to play with then sell, but I enjoy it so much b/c of its fiber optic sights that I can actually see & with its 16" barrel, really accurate: Heritage Rough Rider.
I picked it up from one of my favorite members, Zackcz, for $200.
I bought larger wooden grips for it for $35 back in May of 2021.

I found some targets for some of the revolvers.
I couldn't go back & get anymore b/c after switching computers my older pics are a bear to find, which would have some of the H&R & other ones not shown here.

Not a pocket-carry sized revolver, but a 4" Ruger SP101 in .22lr is an excellent .22 caliber revolver for just about anything. While it's most-likely a belt-carry sized revolver, it's a very reliable and robust revolver.
I have an older, 6-shot, fixed-sight version and I'm very happy with it!
I think it would have been an excellent revolver in .22 wmr as well!

Ideally, yes, but the world I'm living in rates only a B- on the perfection scale. Almost had a 43C Saturday until I told the seller it was mispriced. I'da jumped on that one for $469 but the tag mentioned that it came with two 10rd mags which didn't compute. After half an hour of digging through his books he came back with a $690 price,.....no thanks. Right now the 9-shot 2" Taurus is close enough but it's still half a pound heavier than the 642. If I could just find an alloy frame Taurus,.......and I'm looking.

I'ver owned a couple taurus 94's. Maybe it was just my luck but I thought the double action trigger on them both was terrible. Ok on single action but I just never developed the love for them. I have a small charter arms 22 that I got for the wife and its a nice little piece.

I like my SW Model 63. I really wanted a Model 617 but I haven't seen on in stock locally in a long time.
