Around here there seems to be a lot more open carry among young people. Wondering if this is just a Tennessee thing or if other states are seeing it as well? Funny thing we were writing back and forth with our son, about making sure he gets his enhanced hand gun carry Permit. And taking him shopping for a Holster and a edc size side arm. And he let us know he plans on open carrying for now, which would be legal in Tennessee and the other states he would be in.

    Interesting.

I don't often see open carry here in Evansville, IN but it is perfectly legal.

(I mostly CC unless I'm hiking, Tennessee included.)

Ok not trying to be a snob here, but from what I have seen it’s been younger people like 21 to 25 maybe, all very clean cut, with well dressed, and with proper belts and purpose built holsters.
Not carrying sweatpants-Mexican with a stendo mag? I can get on board with proper belts and holsters.

Edit: Sweatpants-Mexican with a stendo mag I have observed EAST of Raceway Road (Marion County,) NOT WEST of Raceway Road (Hendricks County.)

I am still kind of curious I wonder with a few bases being near by if that is a factor?

I always open carry unless I am in a place where it is frowned upon. I often get flack from relatives. I don't often see others OCing in my small town of 8,000 but I have, several times, in Wal-Mart, Hardware store and Krogers. Is it a "growing trend"? I hope so.

One day at dinner at my bothers I uh, well, in the words of my sister-in-law's cousin: Are you a cop? Where I come from there are two kinds of people that carry a gun, cops and bad guys.

...to which I informed her that her experience is a very narrow view of firearms use and users. I offered to show her how to shoot but she was not interested.

We get some well healed middle-aged and some sweatpants commandos up here. But no more than usual.

I don't open carry because IMO, I'd be an easy target. I still cannot grasp the idea that it is a deterrent; but that's just me.

I do enjoy seeing others OC, makes me feel somewhat proud to be an American.

I do not understand the concept of deterrence either. But its a good thing when people lawfully exercise a right.
