    Congrats. Big win!!! :woot:

    . . .

    I’m in PAIN

    SO MUCH PAIN

I overdid the workouts yesterday. My downfall was the 9pm band machine followed by wall anchor bands. Both of those followed treadmill and dumb bell workouts. So for some reason I decided to, not only have a late session, but a long session. Felt good.

Well it felt good right up to the time I woke up and tried to move waaa2
There's good pain and bad pain. One is when you know you did something terribly wrong. The other is that extreme muscle soreness that leads to growth. I hope yours is the latter.

I wonder how you folks that have had significant weight loss deal with your significant others?
Did they join you in your weight loss journey? Maybe they didn't need to lose weight?
Are your partners happy with your success or possibly less than?

Not try to stir up domestic trouble, but a personal challenge (to quit smoking) with my spouse ended up in divorce.

I followed James Yeager through his weight loss a few years back. I actually spoke with him personally about it. Later, I learned through a friend who had been through TR that Mrs Yeager wanted the "chubby James" back. :n00b:

My wife admittedly would like to lose a few pounds, but is unmotivated to do so. My weight loss actually has her slightly depressed about her weight.

One thing that I make sure I don’t do is make comments about her eating/weight. I could make off the cuff comments about maybe not eating those fries, or bowl of ice cream, etc. but I don’t. I just do my own thing, and let her do hers. I think sometimes the domestic trouble is when one person who is dieting says to the other something along the lines of “do you know how many calories are in that?” or “maybe you shouldn’t sit there and snack on those chips.”

Those comments can come from a place of genuine concern, but they don’t always come across that way. So I just don’t make them.

I'm currently on the weight loss/fitness journey at the behest of my wife. She lacks sufficient will power to lose weight by herself so I tag along to share in the pain. I'm currently down to 179 from 221 in mid July. Nothing fancy here.....eating better and less with some exercise. Nice to get some use from the AIWB holsters again!!

Cue "you aren't much fun since I quit drinking". If all it takes is one person starting some task to better themselves to lead to divorce, then it's the proverbial straw and the marriage was doomed anyway.

My wife wants to lose weight, she’s tried, unfortunately she just hasn’t gotten herself to a place mentally that she needs to be to make the commitment. She’ll go work out for a few nights, or eat healthier for a few nights, but she seems to lack the willpower to see it through. I don’t say anything, it’s not my place, she has to do it for herself just like I had to do it myself. I figure she’ll do it when she’s ready, or she won’t, either way I’m staying out of it until she asks me to be involved.

Well, aced my DOT physical, got a two year certificate because I’m not on any medications and my blood pressure was in range, the doctor commented that even though I am still in the obese bmi that I look a lot healthier than most guys my weight so I’m taking that as a win.

I caved today for the first time since I started my program. I met with one of my customers today to work on a project and they bought pizza for lunch. I had not one, not two, but three slices of pizza. Disappointed is too weak of a word. I punished myself with a hard 3.5 mile run when I got home.

I had 6 pieces (squares, not slices) of pizza tonight but the rest of the day I was under 400 calories of intake. So I figure I was probably still at/under my 1850 calorie limit.

Still, don't beat yourself up over it, just adjust your calorie intake tomorrow to compensate.

If you have a 2500 calorie day one day, cut back the next day to average it out.

And if you have a big meal planned (like a birthday, anniversary or Thanksgiving) then cut your calories the day BEFORE and the day AFTER, but enjoy the day.

I can almost hear the mental conversation
Lazy me: stooop, why are you doing this to us!?!?
Fit me: I let you pick lunch and look what you did, NOW RUN DAMNIT!
Lazy me: fine jeez! You don’t have to yell!!!

Mine is quietly trying to lose weight, and losing a bit, but not at the rate at which I was losing.

She is now worried about my muscle loss, which is leading to some higher calorie food that she is trying to sneak into my meals. She has also been pushing me to eat more. We have come to a balance or compromise. I'm backing off of weight loss as the key and now focusing on body shape. But I'm down 30 pounds, inside a healthy BMI range (even if barely) and pretty trim.

There was some tension but it has all eased.

    . . . . . . . .

And now the holidays have begun in the house. Just back home from Notre Dame picking up our foreign exchange daughter, she will stay until Saturday. Real daughter is in Chicago, I pick her up tomorrow. Exercise and "closing my rings" is probably not happening, or may accidentally happen, until the kids are back out of our house.

I will be watching my intake, but probably gaining a bit of weight over the next few days. Figure I'm not going to be under my 1850 calorie intake goal. Figure I'm not going to have time to do all my exercises. I'll get some. But my routine will clearly be off.

Didn't close my rings yesterday, but I did have another big birthday meal as we celebrated 'our' birthday yesterday for Dasha, since she never got a full family birthday dinner. She and I had celebrated.

So I totally destroyed my diet yesterday. And because I was doing a lot of driving, not the least of which was going to Notre Dame and bringing her home, but then a lot of errands too, I just never had time to get in my exercises.

Started back to it early this morning. Treadmill and Resistance Bands done by 7am :woot:

Not going to push myself on Turkey day to get them done, but if I wake up early tomorrow I'll knock out my exercises. I'm OK with skipping a holiday.

I’ll spend the majority of my day babysitting a turkey in the smoker, I’m definitely not going to hold back when it’s dinner time. My sister is making a pecan pie, homemade crust and all. I plan on spending Friday and most of Saturday in a food coma :lmfao:
