There are very few musicians that I just can't stand, but Mellencamp is at the top of the list. I can't even call his music mediocre. It's just downright bad. Dude is extremely overrated and has an attitude that exceeds his talent level by miles.

Maybe it's because I'm not a native born Hoosier, but I just don't get the love for him. He's like IU basketball. Outside of Indiana no one cares or talks about IU hoops or Mellencamp, but people in the state think they're at the center of the national spotlight. Sorry folks, neither is all that relevant.

    Flame away.

Don't feel bad. Hell I'm from Seymour and can't stand him/his music.

Never was a fan of Johnny Cougar (he hates that name BTW) either.

You are too young to have any experience when IU basketball was relevant, that was over 25 years ago since there was any significant national respect.

This proves my point. I am in my 40s and I never knew a time when IU basketball was relevant. IU fan still hasn't gotten the memo that no one outside the state cares about Hoosier hoops.

As long as they get national attention they will continue the stunts. No one cares about this guy now we are all talking about him.

I agree with you. By the time you were ten IU as I knew it as a kid was sliding down and it was over by the time you were 20. And if you are not from here you certainly are not going to care. Once upon a time IU BB was appointment viewing for over half the folks in Indiana, now I rarely even hear about them. Heard something recently and had to ask who was coach…

It seems like it's celebrities sliding into irrelevance pulling this crap. I assume they can't deal with not being the center of attention for an extended period of time. Like a petulant child, negative attention is still attention.

I don't think he was sitting to get attention.

It looks like he is unaware that he is even being videoed.

This is different to me than the people kneeling to protest. This puts him on par with the rest of the people sitting in the stands, they just don't respect the national anthem as much as the ones who are standing.

I'm guessing he was just being lazy. Not that he cares one way or the other. Disrespectful, but his 1a allows such disrespect. I'm more frustrated with the NFL going hoot-hoot ra-ra about the service and it's members only to find out that each team gets paid to put on the display. It's been a minute since last discussed, but I think the Colts banked $75k/yr for their heartfelt "Salute" and flag waving.

I'm older than that. Growing up in the south, no one cared. SEC football was what we cared about related to college sports (still do).
Basketball, especially IU wasn't even a thought.
