If I had the $cratch, I'd buy a Pan American or the ne Sportster that comes w/ cruise, large screen & liquid cooling.
Saw a PA parked over at the Filling Station across from St Vincent last week.
Had to take a double look at it, they are pretty neat.
I still think a GS is in my future, I can't get it out of my head that I "need" one.

My wife says the only thing I "need" is a hole for coconut. I tell her I have been trying for years to be able to collect on my insurance death policy. Not funny she says but I have dark humor...or is it dork humor? I forget.

I'm looking for a little input here, guys. I'm really wanting a second bike by next year's riding season, but I'm still not sure which way to go.

I currently have an Ultra Limited, so I really want something different. I'd like a bike that's light, nimble, and something reasonably quick. Adventure bikes have caught my eye recently. Do current owners think that type of bike might scracth my itch? My limited has the twin-cam engine in it, so would a mid-sized adventure bike be underpowered, or would I need to go full size? I'll throw in that my off road use will be very minimal. It may see the occasional dirt or gravel road, but it would be mainly pavement.

Before someone makes the suggestion, I'm much too old and fat for a sport bike. I like to go reasonably long distances, so that type of riding position is a definite no.
Gs 650 bmw. Light enough to pick up, comfortable enough to ride all day. Capable on and off road. Fairly affordable used. Huge aftermarket.

I usually ride Harleys but I'll sometimes have something else in the barn. I wanted a KLR 650 (adventure bike) for a long time. I bought one last year but sold it after a few months. It was a nice bike, rode well and had gobs of torque. It was perfect for gravel and unpaved roads especially with the hard bags and a rack full of gear. It may work for you. I think my intended use is a bit different.

I'm 61 so I'm not looking for a dirt but I wanted something for a bit more then just gravel and unpaved roads. The bike weighed a lot and was too top heavy for off road in my book. If I did drop it, even lightly, the fairings and other parts were going to need expensive repairs. I'm going to replace it with something lighter, more nimble and less easily damaged in a fall. I'm thinking DR400.

Good luck. I'd like to hear about what you end up buying.

    What is winterize ?
I just plug in the tender, cause you never know when it might be a decent day and the roads are dry.
For me, I always run ethanol free year round in my motorcycles. I will add one of the fuel storage additives. If one is gonna sit more than one season I fog the engine like an outboard engine. I also change the fluids before I put them up for the winter and plug them into a smart charger.
I tend not to take them out after the roads have been salted the first time until the wet part of spring is past.
I will take one out in the winter if I need to attend a friend that rides funeral.
Then the big washdown before going back in the garage.
I will try to start them up on the days I warm the shop up to do some work..

I have a neighbor that runs a few tanks of ethanol free before putting his up and soes nothing but plug them in.

I believe India has pretty good fuels, leave a tank of 87 ethanol gas in the sun all summer.
    Endfield? Carb or FI?
    2020 Interceptor 650, so FI.

    Its a good looking motorcycle.
They remind me of the retro Triumphs.
Yeah, it runs like a kitten, and a few thousands $ less than a Triumph. RE sniped a bunch of Triumph engineers to start a new design center in the UK, and it really shows with this bike. It's not fast, but it's cool; I still get a lot of people talking about it.

    It's everything I want, and nothing I don't need.
