Hope everyone else is enjoying their Monday. I’m busy smoking some meat to vac seal and freeze for later on when it’s too cold outside. I’m trying several different rubs and recipes to see which I like most.
I just did a full side of pork on Sunday. Wife made up a homemade rub for it. Ate about 1/3rd of it and the rest was packed into the freezer.

What year was your Mom's Suby? I know the older ones had some issues, but they've been good to me so far (on the third one now - 2 Foresters and the Outback).

    .
If I were to guess it was around a 2012-2015. Pretty sure it was a Forester but I'm not 100%. Again, not hating on the Suby's, I would take an old school Sti wagon in a heartbeat!

I LOVE subi's! Keep in mind I'm a tech and they make me a fortune! oil leaks, oil consumption issues, broken timing belt/chains, valvetrain issues, transmissions........................

Even the newer ones Kevin? The Forester platform was totally re-done in 2019, and the Outback in 2020, I believe. Of course, the same basic engine, only much betterer? (I hope)

I don’t see much in the 2-3 year old vehicles for repair, typically still under warranty, so my experience is mostly a little older than those.

Did they have a transmission that was called VCT or something along those lines? For some reason that is sticking out for me.

Heads up if you ever buy guns at Range USA, they have a new policy and it's retarded. If you have a middle name but your ID has just the initial they're gonna want you to bring a second form of ID(e.g. SS card, passport, birth cert) that shows the full name before they can sell it. If you only have a middle initial that's ok though. Part of me thinks I should have just lied because it's only a company policy and not the actual law. I normally fill out 4473s and even have some NFA forms with just the initial.

CVT's (continuously variable transmission) , yes and they're not nearly the only manufacturer using them, personally not a fan of them, they just feel like mush all the time and ridiculously expensive to repair/replace. I'm sure the other dk can weigh in with his expertise.

Cvt transmissions are junk. I would never buy any vehicle with one nor recommend anyone else does either. See Nissans all the time and have seen them fail with as little as 44k miles. Typically around $4500-9000 to replace depending on vehicle.

Nissan is so confident in their Reman transmissions that they give a whopping 1 year warranty on them

@mmpsteve this was her issue the whole time. Not sure if it was working as intended, but along the lines of it just never feeling right.

Still haven't turned the heat on in the house. Enjoying my knowing NIPSCO is not deep in my pocket.
Now, after the kid's cross country practice, the heat in the truck was appreciated as was the hot shower.

Kicked it on yesterday but that was just a function check. When we get those first few chilly nights, I like to make sure everything working as it should before the real cold sets in. Do the same late spring with the AC
