This one is FAR better than the original. Dylan was a better writer/storyteller than singer.

    The original is awful

This isn’t exactly on point for the thread, but been meaning to write about a couple cover bands I ran across on YouTube.

Leonid and Friends Is a Russian band that does a lot of Chicago covers, plus earth wind and fire and some other bands Of my youth. They do them really really well. I think they tour the US. Worth a listen.

Lexington Lab out of Kentucky is also a really good cover band, doing a lot of Chicago as well as many other bands of that era. Good stuff.

Odd thing (to me): I’ve noticed a lot of people younger than me, like 40 years younger, listen to the same bands I listen to when I was their age. I find that a bit peculiar but hey, it’s good music. Now I don’t know a lot of people who are 40 years younger than me, but the young guys in the volunteer fire department are mostly I’m talking about and they like the “old stuff”.

Tom Ellis covered a few songs on that show. And did most if not all very well. He's got some chops as a singer. This one is a bit different than the original.

    Love it.

I don't know how long it took me to learn that All Along the Watchtower was originally a Bob Dylan song. The Jimi Hendrix version is so iconic I had assumed it was the original.

Lot of good stuff here I'll have to listen to. Seen a few Hendrix mentions, so here's a remake I really like the energy on. It's by M.A.A.C., and I've read it's their only release. From Wiki:

"The band M.A.C.C. is made up of Mike McCready (guitarist from Pearl Jam), Jeff Ament (bassist from Pearl Jam), Matt Cameron (drummer for Soundgarden and later for Pearl Jam), and Chris Cornell (singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave). The cover of "Hey Baby (Land of the New Rising Sun)" is their only known recording. All four members of this group had previously worked together on the Temple of the Dog project, and the song "Hey Baby (Land of the New Rising Sun)" was added to Temple of the Dog's live set in 2016."

Leonid and Friends do pretty much perfect covers. My favorite one is a lesser Chicago hit- lesser on the charts, musically very great:
