Sure wasnt like I remember them or me in 1980's.......they sounded terrible and my head hurts. I think all the chicks from the 80's must have sent their kids....now I know what my dad meant when he told me to turn that s#@t down!

The only band I've seen in the past few years that sounded as good as they did when I saw them in the 70s or 80s is Alice Cooper.

Every other band I've seen recently that was from that era was like watching an elderly tribute band.

If you loose it on stage just play louder and scream harder. Few can tell the difference.
Last time I wasted money trying to revisit my youth was on FleetWood Mac. At the deer creek venue. What a vocal disappointment. The music was 80% on track but the Vocals sucked. Terrible.
That was enough for me. Get a nice home unit. Pick out your favorite tunes. Set it up to play at your pleasure.
Avoid the ass hats in the crowds and the Gestopo (Sp) in the traffic leaving.
Trust me your drinks will be colder/cheaper and you can stop when you want to. The evening will be much better.

I was there also, it was by far the worse sound show that I have every been to. I couldn’t understand anything 90% of what any of the 4 bands were saying. I saw Motley Crew many many years ago at market square when they opened for Ozzy. Saw a lot of old rockers and old groupies showing way to much skin.

Saw the crew in the 80’s and 90’s. They open for Ozzy first time I saw them. See bands in there prime. Today’s bands just to expensive to see many of. I have concert tickets (paper I miss paper tickets) with 4 to 6 bands price 3.95 and 4.95 (q 95 concerts) rush shows from 13.95 but most were a 20-30 ticket. I saw The Who in Cincinnati when the doors crushed several people.

first expensive show I remember was Eagles hell freezes over 90 a ticket lawn deer creek and they had my 400 for a year and a half because joe Walsh went to rehab and the postponed the concert.

ac/dc I saw 400 dollar tickets and 100 dollar nose bleeds. Just not as fun at the prices they are charging. Gov’ment Mule local ticket was 140 each but they played an outlaw date three days later for 30 a pop with willie Nelson and a few other bands in Pennsylvania. Guess the cost would be less local with gas up.

Due to my tinnitus, live concerts are a distant memory for me. When I was young, my dad was friends with the general manager of the IMA in Flint, MI. This was the venue for concerts in my day. I saw many there.

Now, I'll just listen to it online.

Though there are a few performers I'd consider but they aren't hard rock bands.

No, I didnt see that. It happened straight across from me but I never even noticed. Between Vince and his chipmunk voice and Tommy Lee begging for girls to flash their boobs..........I missed the fall. I can tell you though........everyone was drunk but me and the wife I think.

They are all a disappointment. The voice just doesn't hold up. And most are really lax on even trying to stay fit enough to resemble themselves when they were popular.
I was kind of shocked at how good of shape some of them were in. Def Leppard was very fast paced....and man they didnt slow down. Vivian and Phil Collen are in great shape. Them guys are like 60 and 65 and look like the body of 30 year olds.

Joan Jett was just Joan Jett. She sounded good though.

Poison was probably the best of them all, sound wise. Brett Michaels really honored and spoke highly of his appreciation for our LEO's and Veterans. He spoke of his father being in the military and his Uncle died on Omaha beach. You could tell them and the fans are getting older, because he spoke about it and we listened in silence. He also went out of his way to make sure the people of Indianapolis knew he appreciated them showing up early to see them play. Bobby Dall is still a poser.....but CC and Rikki still make it look effortless, even though their bodies say otherwise.

Motley Crue......where to start. Vince sounded like a squeaky chipmunk. I don't know what it was....but his voice messed with me. He put on a great show...but geeze. Nothing but naked women dancing around stage. Tommy begging for boobs. Nikki and his deep bass going non stop.........drowning out Vince's squeaky voice and Mick being Mick hid in a corner somewhere like he had stage fright.

It may take me another 30 years to get the courage to go to another concert, although the Kentucky Headhunters are coming to Danville.......maybe I will try that out!

Amen! Was that the tour where Tommy spun upside down while jamming on drums? I also thought I remembered Motley Crue playing with Loudness on a Tour. I miss MSA more now than ever.......

Its the venue. Stadiums like that are not designed for concerts.

It can be done, but requires such specialized tweaks to the system its not worth it. So they dont do it. Because by the time you realize it sucked, they already have your money permanently. And likely you'll forget the next time it rolls around again, or assume it was the artist and not the venue.

It probably did sound good in very specific areas in the stadium... areas that could fit inside smaller venues designed for concerts. See the connection? ;)

While I love Poison, Crue and Def Leppard I just had zero interest in this stadium tour. I have seen them so many times already anyway.

Def Leppard and Poison put on great shows. I have seen Bret by himself and with Poison and he is a terrific frontman.

Here is CC dripping sweat on us from a couple years ago when I saw them. Always liked this picture.

The last time I tried to relive my youth it was Alice Cooper opening for Iron Maiden at Deer Creek. I was impressed with Cooper. He was moving at a pace that showed his age, but his voice was still great.

Then Iron Maiden hit the stage and we were blown away. Dickinson in his late 50s and still running all over, climbing and jumping all while singing. He was a wild man and they sounded great.

I decided to quit while I was ahead and that was the last of the throwback concerts I went to.

I did see Rush a few times on their last 2 tours, but...Rush. You knew going in they would be great.

But did Motley Crue do Smokin' in The Boys Room? I love Brownsville Station and Cub Koda's widow can use the royalties.

Met my wife at a Brownsville concert in 1973 1972 - yup, I'm old.

Uncle Ted still delivers. The sound at Owensboro Riverpark Center is spot on!
