He's got a 417' foot yacht worth $500,000,000 and he's the loser. Whatever floats your boat.

Other people's class envy obviously isn't keep Bezos up at night.

...and I don't think it was ever Bezos' issue so much as the yacht builder but yeah....dumb rich guy I guess?

Two missed points. I'd venture intentionally due to class envy.
1: HE was footing the bill. The city was never on the hook for the cost to do so. He just needed their permission, just like you would ask your neigbor if it was ok for you to move his boat and trailer out of the way to make it easier to get your new minbarn delivered. He didn't need to get up from the couch, just needed to give you permission to touch his stuff.

2: It wasnt him that wanted the boat finished before it was moved. Its the ship builder. Could they install the masts elsewhere? yeah. Could you do a brake job in the parking lot of a city park instead of in your driveway where all of your tools are? Sure. Its just more of a PITA. Thats why they asked.

I think the missed points here, were the need to get this type of clearance in-place and negotiated out, before commencing work.

When owners of space-exploration companies can't do that? Yah, that's funny

Dude. get over yourself and stop the hate. You're embarrassing yourself.

    NOT. HIS. JOB.

When your auto mechanic calls you and tells you its going to be a week to do that service you scheduled a month in advance because nobody ordered the parts, its your fault, right? A successful chap such as yourself should have known to order the parts so that they would be on hand for the job, dont you think? How stupid could you be not to make sure the parts were ordered? What an idiot!

This is a little bigger scale than fixing brakes in your driveway. This is high-capital vendor management, and Bezos is a notorious "detail guy."

If he employed you in one of his businesses, like Blue Origin, and you were managing a vendor and a screw-up of this magnitude happened...do you really expect he'd tell you, "Blow it off, monkey-guy, it was the vendor's job - you'll still get your raise this year"?

Keep hatin. Keep hatin and making excuses.

It’s still not his job to figure out how to get his boat somewhere until the keys are handed to him. Just like it’s not your job to arrange transport from the factory to the dealership for your new truck.

Once it’s delivered, THEN you can badmouth him all you want about poor planning.

But you didn't answer the question. Would you still have a job?

Maybe, maybe not. But you're comparing apples and oranges. (owner vs worker)

It still not Jeff's job/responsibility until its HIS boat. All he is responsible for is writing the check(s) whether its just for the boat or the boat plus bridge work. Thats it. Stop acting like he is responsible for the world.

Sorry I called Bezos an ass.
No apology needed. You are welcome to think he's an ass. I havent followed him enough to have an opinion either way. If I cared enough to dig deep, I might agree with you.

My beef is people assigning more "responsibility" to him than is warranted. Because they are envious, they think everything is his fault and demonize him for it.

My "beef," if there be one, is people who can't tell the difference between wanting someone taxed because they're wealthy, and laughing at them getting humiliated because they're an asshat.

(...but Bezos "isn't responsible" for that, either, right?)

Right, he does plenty to demonize without the silliness of this thread…
