I know I would be better with pictures, but I am trying to ID a modern polymer pistol. It is an all black 9mm single stack, completely smooth slide, Polymer frame. No slide release so side safety. Almost no sights, just kind of a groove in the top of the slide. Longer slide than a S&W shield. Barrel is maybe 3.5 to 3.75 inches. It has the hinged plastic trigger like a Shield. The magazine releases by squeezing buttons on the magazine that fit slots on both sides of the grip. I cannot see anything on the S&W website, so it may discontinued.

I'll try to get pictures next time I see the man.

    Sounds like a Sigma subcompact.

If that is the the one! ⚠️
When I shot my cousins sigma it had about the heaviest trigger pull with inconsistencies in when it released I have ever shot.

Not being a Debbie downer but it was a horrible trigger.

That is exactly what it looks like. Sigma Compact it is. Thanks! And yes the trigger is awful.

Even with an empty magazine installed, the slide does not lock back. Is that normal?
Yep, no slide lock, manual safety or take down lever. PITA to take apart and put back together. An older guy I hunt with has one that he carries. He said he has put about 3 mags though it the whole time he owned it. He picked up a mag for it @ Gun World in Corydon for around $25 new in the wrapper, which was covered in dust.
