Sounds cool, if you get a spare minute post up a pic of it or pm me one ? Honestly never thought of making myself something like that ,would be interested to see what ya did

Mitch Rosen Gunleather is always an option.
I have several of their holsters and mag holders.
Good product, not cheap though. Or fast. They make the product to your specs. Tell them the gun type, side of the body, belt size etc..

I always carry a reload. It's more for the psychological satisfaction than any concern I'll use it. If you want to talk odds/stakes or pure logic: A tourniquet is a much more likely to be useful thing that's not discussed much and seldom carried.
I carry one of those also.

Someone pointed out to me, if the gun is out because there is shooting, the defender or bystanders might need some fixin.

And then, in my car I have a 50 cal can with extras in case there is a event bigger.

I have always carried two spare mags. They seem to balance the gun belt quite well. Another advantage of two (on top of round count) is that it spreads out the bulge under light single layer cover gear. A double mag carrier seems to better girdle a love handle, rather than be levered out like a single.

    Going on Mas' commentary in the video above;
Even without the gun grappling to inadvertently actuate the mag release, I have seen many shooters in class and competition only have the chambered round to shoot, until the gun stopped.

Either the mag release was somehow hit through carry, handling or even laying the gun down to make that "100% reliable" gun into a hammer. We all know and are trained to tap-rack-bang, but that may not help if the mag has already made it to the ground? :dunno:

So I watched both of these when they came out and had the same thought you did. I ended up not posting it, because I figured most people would not watch the video's but just post their opinion and what they do. Go figure.

So you have a guy who has watched tons of video's and done some math and presents his opinion that due to the extremely minute chances of needing a reload, for any reason, it is not worth carrying one (regular people who are not looking for a fight).

You have another guy who has been around the self defense training world for decades and takes a significant look at a lot of anomalies give most of the traditional reasons for carrying a spare mag, plus one I never bought in to. (Ejecting your mag incidentally as part of weapon retention.)

Both are well reasoned and come up with good points. I don't really see a correct answer, but rather this being one of those cases where you educate yourself and make a decision.

I carry 10+1 daily with a 15+1 in my vehicle and 15 round mags for p365 in the vehicle. If society is unfolding like in certain times, I carry level 4 ceramic armor and an AR in the vehicle. If it’s not, I still to the basics. If I’m going somewhere uncomfortable, I carry extra mags on my person.

Is John getting annoying, with his steadfast idea of not wanting an extra mag?

John is getting annoying to me, but not because of this issue. The short version," I don't care if you carry spares, do your thing, I am just saying statistically they won't be needed." I can't say I disagree with that.

My go bag always has spare mags. But then again, single stack ,45's you don't get a lot of bullets in them lol

Statistically, we will never need a gun at all, right?

Day to day with edc to shop, fish, eat at restaurant, no spare mag. I just figure I'm defending against random acts of violence and it would be extremely unlikely I would need more than 7-15 rounds (rnd count dpends on gun) to defend me and mine. When traveling, camping or entering a known risky environment, at least one spare sometimes two. When I carry a spare it's usually in my pocket. Is pocket carry of spare mag a bad idea? I only own one rig that with a spare mag space/slot. It's a universal jobby.

I agree. I doubt if many here have ever been in a gunfight. A few of us may have during war. If I could predict the time that I will be involved in a situation that required defensive gun use, I would rarely carry. As far as how many rounds, 5, 10, 15 too many is better than 1 less than needed.

I did not view the videos above. Maybe this was covered there. I first read it in American Handgunner. A bank robber was shot by an officer 14 times, 6 in supposedly fatal areas, and still continued firing his own weapon. The cop was using a .45.

Not at all the case. In his video he does the numbers and it comes out to something like 30% of people could use a firearm to defend their life over the course of their lives.

Don't get me wrong, I am all in favor of carrying extra ammo. I just think that if you are carrying an extra ammo and not a good flashlight or pepper spray or some type of intermediate defense tool you are doing it wrong.
