I need a way to winch my small boat trailer up an incline to get it into the back yard for storage. Im using a manual trailer dolly and pulling it by hand up the incline, but it is starting to make my bad knee hurt when I do it. As times goes on its getting harder and harder to pull it.

I need less than 500lb of pull force, So it doesnt sound like it would be hard to find a winch capable of decent speeds (20 cable feet/min. All I'm finding are heavy duty 2,000lb and up really slow 5-10 FPM winches.

    Any suggestions?

And no, I dont have $2500+ laying around for an electric trailer tug. I wish. :):

Block and tackle to make manually pulling easier?

Or do the opposite of this with your high pull/low speed winch. i.e. hook the winch to the weight, and the boat to the "free end". Using diagram 3, you get a 3 to 1 speed increase. i.e. that 10 fpm pull gets you 30 fpm at the boat. You don't have to go over the very top pulley to get this benefit, so the pull direction is in the "normal" direction that you would use the winch.

    At the Ranch.

I bought one of these, removed the handle, and welded the nut. Then, I used a drill to power it. I used to use it to get heavy, bulky items into my attic.
Did the same to a trailer jack a few years ago... bolted a 3/8 drive socket where the jack handle would go... Insert cordless drill with 3/8" socket bit and up-down you go... Great minds think alike! :lmfao:

    Pretty much Michigan.
You could buy a 2500lb badlands winch for $90. Run it with 2 or 3 12v batteries in series. Itll either double (or triple) the speed or burn it up but it would probably be fine since its not much load. This is quoted right from their warranty page though-

This will work - Winch and Boat at same Location

Downside is to move the Boat 500 feet - you need 2000 feet of Rope

If you have multiple Anchor Points -- you could do 100 feet at a time with 400 feet of Rope

If you separate the Winch and Boat - you reduce rope 25% but may need 2nd person at Boat to Guide it

2nd Downside is you need 1500 lbs of torque to move a 500 lb boat

So could you put a snatch block at the location you're wanting to go, and then hook it to a vehicle going the opposite way?
No room. I think Rookie's/BG's idea is going to do it. I can attach that to the trailer and guide it up the hill.
But I REALLY want one of these. Just for the cool factor. :):

Maybe I could pair it up with one of these, and sit on the deck with the remote in one hand, and beer in the other?
