A guy I know sent me a picture of his suppressor. He's pretty sure he didn't get it on tight when he was swapping between guns. It was hot from firing, and he didn't have a glove with him. He's still waiting to hear what griffin armament has to say as far as warranty, but he needs three baffles and an end cap. Fortunately, he was swapping between guns (again) and noticed the end cap was bulged before he sent another round through...

So, I know next to nothing about suppressors; what the heck happened here? Was it that it worked loose enough to be at a slight angle, and that caused a baffle strike?

wait, are suppressors actually legal in Indiana? I've heard you need to go through some strange process and no guarantees you will be approved

    I've seen worse.

I'll try to find the pictures.

Found one. I (and one other individual) took a lot of shrapnel in the face from this as I was standing next to the shooter when this happened...

    Suppressors are legal in Indiana.
You do have to follow Federal laws.
There are no guarantees, on pretty much anything in life.

Maybe someone can look up and quote Federal law, and who can buy, but it seems like, if you can buy a gun, you can buy a suppressor or short barrel rifle.

The approval does take time, a lot of time. We have a thread on how long some people are waiting.
I put in for 2 suppressors and a SBR at the same time, and they came back somewhere around 9 months if I remember.
Remember this when people want to get rid of the "proceed" on the NICS check when you buy a gun.
There was a clause put in, that if they have not approved your GUN purchase, that after 3 or 5 days (I forget) that if they don't have a yes/no, then they must let you proceed with the sale.
This is to prevent the government from enacting gun control, by simply delaying due to "undermanning" or whatever.

But, the NFA law did not have that. So, they make people wait months.
So, when they talk about getting rid of "proceed", remember why it's there.

Thank you for your response, I think I confused suppressor with a silencer, I Just looked up and seems like there is a long process for a SILENCER, not a suppressor
