I suck at taking photos but this is my family of P220s. Top to bottom: 1977 first year import “Browning BDA,” 1992 W. German import, and a Legion. All came with original boxes, paperwork, and mags. The 1992 came with the original grips as well; I put on the Hogues.

The P220 is my favorite platform, so the 1977 is kind of my “prized possession.” Finding one with the original box was probably the most effort/patience I’ve put into purchasing a firearm.

I picked up a P320 M18 a while back and loved it, so I decided to get a FCU and assemble one to my preferences. It’s most likely going to replace my current nightstand gun so I went with OEM parts (aside from the comp). My next will be a full size range gun so I plan to get a little more creative with it.

The look isn’t quite as clean as others but I wanted specific features in a balanced package. This combination fit the bill. It’s a Sig AXG carry frame, subcompact slide assembly, and Herrington Arms comp. 0532C035-18BD-4037-A050-26B2AA2757BC.jpeg

The P220 is the platform that I started with on SIGs. The P220 I owned was one of the most accurate out of the box semi auto centerfire pistols I ever fired. I do miss it.

These silly SIGs NEW SIGs fire when whomped with a hammer or when dropped really hard
    How do I know?
I have a Pre Upgrade P320 before they had disconnectors & hasn't been back for the Voluntary Upgrade
    In the 90s I HAD a P220ST P225 P228 P229 & P239SAS
Currently have only the ONE SIG P320 Carry & have been looking at a P365 for a Long Long Time & one never shows it's head at a decent price + I have several other little autos that serve that purpose

On MY P320 I added a Gray X Grip Frame & a Flat Faced Trigger, It has a great trigger pull too..

The first one I bought was the 1992 W. German model and I had zero intention of keeping it. I felt I could turn a quick profit if I bought it at asking price, but I was pretty sure the employee working the counter was new and thought he might bite on a lower offer. He accepted $150 under asking price and I walked away thinking I was slick. Then I took it to the range… Needless to say, I never made a dime off the transaction lol.

Finally got around to having @AllenM do the optic cut on my P320 and he did an awesome job. I'll be having him do another one in the next few weeks.

I have taller sights on order, for anyone that might be wondering.

Though it wasn't necessary, I hit the machined area with some 1500 grit sandpaper and some Nevr-Dull.

    No Legions? C'mon, man.
Maybe you can tune a regular feel like a legion?

Another question, what are the economics of buying an already optic ready gun (trading around, waiting for just the right one), vs getting one milled? Say on the 320 platform or a 226.

Bottom one is X5 Legion :)

I have the magwell removed for carry optics division

    To answer the second part.
Depends on what deal you get on a not RDO ready gun.
One thing to consider is when I mill a slide it is dedicated to one footprint. Usually RMR/ Holosun.
Guns that are pre cut will often accept multiple different types of sights.
But if you get the gun cheap enough no disadvantage to milled non cut gun.

You do have to be careful though, some guns have cavities on the under side that prevent milling

Something I'll add to this. I previously had an X-Full that was cut and drilled/tapped from the factory for multiple optics, one of them being an RMR footprint. The downside was that with an RMR installed, there was no recoil support because it sat too far back from the front and also had no posts either. Those screws would have eventually snapped during recoil.

Legions are nice but a non-Legion can be tuned to better than Legion stays with little work.
