I feel that statement is uncalled for.

You and others may not believe in God or the teachings of Jesus but others do. What does it matter to you if one wished to express their values and impact they believe God has on our lives? What reason would one have to make an insulting statement against those who do believe?

Does it make you feel better?

This is a very sad story about children being killed and people believing, as I do, that there has been a moral downfall since many have taken God out of the equation.

The families of many of those children are, right now, reaching out to, praying to the only hope they feel they have right now. The only peace they may have is from praying to God, and here you are ripping that only hope out of their hearts.

    You should be ashamed.
    Agreed

a BIG NO THANKS! I appreciate your thinking, and would agree under other circumstances. From what I've seen, many of the teachers and faculty are exactly the triggered Karen's that I DON'T want to have rapid access to deadly force. They are not mature, not mentally stable, and more likely should be prohibited possessors.

I'm worried enough about: 1. a gov't police state; and 2. the 're-education and indoctrination day-camp' that our schools have become. The thought of combining these two should scare the :poop: out of us all!!

My apologies to the fantastic people who are teachers. I know you're out there, but you're the exception to the rule. Even amongst the exceptions, those with the mindset to carry, train, and use, are still rare. I can only recall a few in my lifetime that fit. One was a shop teacher (we no longer seem to have those), and one was a former state police officer.

Nope - I think even if I were a teacher, spending time in the teachers lounge with my "peers" would make even me say "teachers shouldn't have guns at school".
Yup. Living in the Libs of TikTok era has flipped me on this issue completely. I do not want to see any recent product of this country's teacher pipeline anywhere near a firearm.

    Hire professionals. Motivated professionals.

Just curious.....do you let them educate your children?
Honest answer - yes and no. My kids are out of the camps now (one's doing time at the 'Big House' IU). They did go to public school - partly because I wanted them to understand the rest of the world. I hated the choice, but thought that my kids needed to understand 'the system', and what the other kids were experiencing. These will be their co-workers (bosses), and neighbors as an adult. They had to learn how to deal with them.

However, my wife and I took responsibility for raising them. I spent time preparing them long before the first bus ride. I spent time deprogramming them when they got home. I made sure they knew that teachers were just people - some good, some wise, others not at all.

[deleted - not the right thread ]

I think they turned out alright. I know we built a bond, and they often tell me their friends are jealous. It still doesn't seem enough, but it was the best I could do.

Back to this thread: The ONE THING I absolutely expected the school to do was to keep my kids safe while they were in the schools 'custody'. Whomever else is to blame, the school in Texas failed at this one task, and that much is on them.

AKA Coach here on INGO. Avon High School Teacher, firearms instructor, competition shooter. He passed away about a year and a half ago.
And the world is worse off without him. I really miss that cranky SOB who wasn't afraid to tell you that you effed up. Straight up. But he somehow made you enjoy hearing that you effed up. I cant think of a better human being to hear "Well? What the HELL were you thinking!? " from. He had a bizarre knack for dressing you down without tearing you down. I cant explain it. We need more Coaches in the world.

Damn straight. We need more Coaches in this world. When he passed on I remember sending the sad info to my son who is an Avon HS grad. He never had Coach as a teacher, but he definitely remembered him.

What would having God in schools done to prevent this?
Well, we have God in churches... Oh wait, there's still shootings there.

Some people can't help injecting politics in times of tragedies. As a Christian, I'm embarrassed by some this. In America, in the last century, we never really "had God in schools". Does anyone really think that a prayer before the football game is really going to create strong morals and good theology?

Blaming your political enemy (be they left or right) won't solve this. Gun control won't solve this. A morning prayer in school won't solve this. CRT won't solve this. "Don't say gay" won't solve this.

    POLITICS WON'T SOLVE THIS!
