The people who are hurt most by high gas prices are also the least likely to be able to afford an electric vehicle. Not that there are any to buy anyway, with the microchip shortage. The cheapest new EV is the Nissan Leaf, at about $34k. There are 7 of them listed for sale in a 150 mile radius of Indianapolis. And having been following the car market out of sheer morbid curiousity, I'm quite sure that maybe 1 or 2 out of the 7 listed online are actually on a dealer's lot. If any.

Nevermind the lack of charging infrastructure and the fact that, once again, the people who are struggling to the point that gas prices are a serious issue will probably lack the funds to install an appropriate charger for regular use of the vehicle for commuting, if they even have a garage to put it in. A normal 110v outlet will get you about 36-40 miles of range per overnight charge. Not gonna work for someone who uses their vehicle every day, unless they live within bicycle range of everything.

I don't see mass adoption of EVs any time soon. When the chip shortage is over and someone introduces a sub $25k EV with at least 200 miles of range, we'll see.
Yes the least able to afford it,are the same ones who voted for it.
    I hope they loose everything!

    Question:

How much of the "strategic oil reserves" of the states is being sold to foreign countries?

Want to know why Biden is begging a Venezuela dictator for oil?

In answer to your question though. It was all of it taken out of the reserve and then some.
US exports of oil for March-April 2022. It was an all time RECORD by over 1/3 any past export record(our exports for April of 2022 in the link below). Curiously more went to Canada than the EU directly(maybe they handled shipping because we did not have enough room at our oil terminals?). Mexico was number 3(mostly refined product, but oil as well). Read the text before you click the link.

"Exports of Crude Oil in the United States increased to 9102.34 USD Million in March from 7427.83 USD Million in February of 2022. "

Oh, and "WAR" excuse is a bit old.
This country has been at war before. Actually in a war. And we didn't have it this bad.

Then her claim about approving record number of permits.
    Okay.
    And what about "red tape"?
I can tell someone they can make money cutting my grass.
But if I then give them 3 months worth of paperwork to fill out, my grass is probably not being cut.

Also, as he mentions, the government is attacking companies. So why would those companies invest more money?

Not a single question about our record exports of oil, gas, and diesel for April and May. Want to know where our cheap gas and diesel is? Largely in South American countries(going on for over a year). The last two months though it is crude leaving to Canada and the EU with Mexico coming in third at record rates both months. The amount of gas and diesel we send to South America alone is nearly 10% of all our production. Cut that back to 4% or under(of refined product) like we had under Trump, and what do you think would happen to domestic prices?

That does not even factor in the amount of Diesel(we have sent very little gas)we are sending to Europe. We can not meet domestic demand if we are supplying Central America and the EU,we simply do not have the refining capacity(one less refinery already since Biden took office).

Oh they had open permits, they just closed them before they could be bid on. Lots and lots of permits that no oil companies were allowed to bid on before they closed the bid process(before anyone was allowed to place a single bid) down and canceled the permits.

I don't think oil futures and gas futures would change all that much just because Indiana drops the tax on it. But sure, local refineries might capitalize. My opposition to dropping the tax is more about fiscal responsibilities. If we drop the tax are we also gonna drop all the work the state pays for with that money? Unless we're willing to drop the work, I'm not ready to say drop the tax. They have to pay for it somehow.
I am not seeing any work on local or state roads Amigo. Fed roads yes but our roads suck Donkey butt’s.

Same here with FIL. Used to have long interesting conversations but he went off the deep end on Trump and he cannot engage in conversation without pretty much bashing all I believe. We once had a lot in common…
What makes the electricity to send to the homes so people can charge their cars and not use fossil fuels anyhow?

Oh yeah, not supposed to talk about that. As long as I can't use gas I guess it doesn't matter.

Had a chat with my father yesterday about all this. It isn't the fault of the current administration to him. The pipeline that was shut down wasn't working yet so that doesn't count. The bad Republicans of the state could save the day with dropping the gas tax but they won't because of the R behind their names. Gas wasn't as cheap as I remember it during Trump's term.

I left when it started turning into a Trump bashing session.

It's a shame really that I can't have very long conversations with him any longer. Everything becomes political.
That is how my entire dads side of my family is. UAW/Teamsters lever pulling Dems.
When I was exposed for being a right leaning voter I was literally demonized by most of them. Lectured and criticized.
Not spoken a word to those people in years. And in truth I am better off.
