1st off this isn’t a commentary on the police themselves, ik ive a bit of reputation for not being their biggest fan round these parts. More of a commentary on the current political and social climate of living in the big city.

Lived in Marion county for 3 years now, called into dispatch via 911 or 311 a total of I think 3 times now.

1st time several years ago I watched a literal shootout between road raging cars, dispatcher asks if I got license plates and when I said no they pretty much said “what do you want me to do about it” , idk see if you have any cops close by and send them ?

One call into 911 was for trespassing, had to do with contractors working behind my house insisting they could drag men and equipment across my yard. They weren’t working on my yard or but hey it was the easiest way for them because of fences where they were working. After about a 45 minute standoff dispatch calls back and asks if the problem is still going on.

Latest one is calling on a neighbors barking dog. Dog is left out for hours late into the night all the time. Call into 311 after 10 pm for a noise complaint and the dispatcher asks me if I want the number to the mayors action line. No I don’t want the number, I want you to send someone to shut this sh** down because 10pm is the cutoff for noise complaints. I relayed that this wasn’t a one off thing, long and short of it dispatcher literally hung up on me.

So if inside of Marion county your on your own, the law only exists the come and do reports after the fact- CMV

No fault of the police. They are out there busting their asses every day, but it is never good enough for some people.
I'm sorry if I sounded as if I made that claim.
More like, catch and release. Probably the only ones doing their jobs are the police.
    DAs won't prosecute.
People get free money for Bail, and then commit more crimes.
Judges "interpret" things to fit the way they feel.

I wasn't referring to you. You have a good understanding of how things work. But since police are the largest and most visible part of the "criminal justice" system, they are the first to receive the anger and blame.

    Yes.
And I have directed some hate.
But mostly to the ones that seem to be crossing the lines.
For instance the officer in my town that was pulling over EVERY car that was a certain color/make/model to threaten the driver, because SOMEONE yelled at his wife or daughter. I thought that was a bit over the line on "authority abuse".

I understand the job is hard, and that people look over their shoulder and try to say "*I woulda...".
So, I get the "holster sniffer" AND the "hater" monikers.
    :)

I have no problem with directed hate. Some cops deserve it. Its the broad brush that gets me. If you hadn't noticed.

Thank people like yourself who are always spouting that "ACAB" ********. The numbers of officers are dwindling because of the treatment they get, even when they are right/justified/etc. And with the violent crime rate the way it is in Marion County, it isn't going to get any better. So good luck.
Rooster, I don't have a beef with you, but...
It pretty funny when the "wanna know why people say ACAB" guy is calling the cops on barking dogs.

If you got the plates, it wouldn't have mattered.

On a good day, you'll eliminate the dog, the road-ragers eliminate each other...s'all good.

Instead of calling the hall monitor down to settle a problem for you, why don't you fix it?

If you can get away with anything up to murder or rape, I can think of a solution for all of those cases.

We had neighbor dog issues more than once. A garden hose usually shuts the stupid dog up and then deal with the asshat owners come daylight.
The city services suck top to bottom not just the IPD. Like Frank said they are woefully understaffed and terribly mismanaged. I don't blame the boots on the ground.

The contractor issue is as easily dealt with especially if your property is posted. We have had this as well, but the Forman actually knocked and asked if they could come through to get to the work. I said OK as long as they did not damage the yard. Guess I was lucky. But we have had a few cable guys cruise through un-announced and they were met in a most unpleasant way.

I followed a seriously drunk driver for miles on I-70 east bound out of Terre Haute. made several 911 calls and not a darn thing was done. We even drove by a state police cruiser in a construction zone. Thank God no one was hit. They got off at 267 and I just drove home.

None of these things made me get on a soap box. They pi**ed me off for certain but just know you are not alone in your angst.

There is no fixing any of this. Even voting Mayor stinky shoes out and a republican in. They all suck Amigo. All of them.

Can’t get one to show up so a law abiding citizen like myself sees little positive action from the law. Sure I called on a barking dog but I also called on an active rolling gunfight too and got told “oh well”

I’ve knocked on the door and had words many times. These particular people don’t care , they are the type of people that would be of real interest to law enforcement as I’m 99% convinced that they are involved in actual criminal enterprise as a career.
