Indiana lawmakers revive permitless carry legislation
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana lawmakers are resuming efforts to drop handgun carry permits for many Hoosiers. With the end of the legislative session days away, lawmakers have brought back legislati…fox59.com
My "favorite" part is Adams County Sheriff Dan Mawhorr, stating 6000 people are denied each year (with no other context), and the statement “My fear is we have all these people now that will just start carrying a gun,” he said. “Have they had any training?”
I wonder what the voices in his head tell him is happening now?
I did however love this part. “I think the system now is backwards,” said Hamilton County Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush. “The individual should not have to petition the government in order to exercise a constitutionally protected freedom.”
I agree with Kelly. A lot of the numbers anti’s are spouting must be using some type of “new” math. ISP publishes stats that anyone can see. However, the picture would be clearer if the stats went deeper into the weeds. For example, for those who are listed as denied, how many actually went through the appeal process and were still denied? In other words, were they actually a prohibited person or did the applicant just give up after the first denial? That denial letter can be intimidating and not everyone can afford an attorney like Kirk or Guy to represent them. His numbers were wrong, the serious violent felons like the one that shot the IMPD Officer the other day don't care about licenses...
Has there been an increase in denials on felon because they are trying to sneak through and get a Larry with all the tons of applications coming in? (Just a thought.)
Has there ever been anyone in the history of ever who has said, "Yeah I'd be a drug-dealin, murderous, kidnappin, bank-robbin criminal... but I got this LTCH... so... I'm not.
I know someone that was denied because they forgot to put a misdemeanor from 15 years ago on the form. She didn't have the money or the desire to fight about it.I agree with Kelly. This ^^^ is what p***** me off about the media. A journalist would follow up an assertion such as that made by the Adams County Sheriff, and ask the obvious questions. However, the picture would be clearer if the stats went deeper into the weeds.
