That is just too tough for the bleeding heart crowd…
There’s a lot of people who think all animals are pets. We had hunting dogs growing up. They were working dogs first, pets second. I can remember several times when they got peppered with bird shot because they wouldn’t listen. People today just can’t process that thought.

These cats were not pets. A pet gets a cute collar with a tiny bell on it. The guys killed 20+. That wasn’t even all of them, it’s just the ones they were able to catch. Let’s say it was 50%, that means there were 40-50 cats left outside to roam as they wished. That’s not a pet, it’s a feral animal. Indiana law allows a property owner to dispose/catch/kill nuisance animals. I feel that with a good lawyer, these guys will get off with little repercussions (as they should).

Cursory research will show that feral cats (and outdoor "pets") kill huge amounts of native wildlife yearly. It is always open season on outdoor cats. The bleeding hearts that TNR are just allowing more death and destruction during the feral cats' lifetimes (which are usually hard, brutal and short).

We have a strictly indoor cat that doesn't have a collar or vet visits - she NEVER goes outside, and freezes in fright if she makes it onto the porch. She is a PET.

Per My Case: Vallonia was the town. Both charged with level six felonies. The one has a lengthier criminal history than the other.

When they wind up in court they probably didn’t help their case by saying “_your_ cats are dead”. There’s a lot we don’t know, like whether they made any reasonable effort to ask her to keep them on her own property.

Anyone who handles a similar situation in a similar manner probably shouldn’t be too surprised when his or her mug shot ends up being published, too.

They all sound like lovely neighbors
Wonder why cat lady was recording them?
I wouldn't like those cats either, but if i trapped them i'd probably try to take them to a shelter or something. We have a lot of feral cats and crazy cat people (not just ladies) around our area, too.
Telling the lady they were dead was dumb.

Not to overcomplicate, but what if we were talking about dogs vs cats?
Nuisance animals are just that. Doesn’t matter if it’s a cat, dog, raccoon, or anything else.

I killed my neighbors pig (feral pig that they got as a baby, then turned loose on the neighborhood once it got around 300 lbs) that was destroying my wife’s flower beds. The sheriffs deputy that showed up offered to hold the flashlight while I shot it with my bow. County came the next morning to haul away the carcass. I was told several times by dispatch and the officer that Indiana grants me the right to protect my property from nuisance animals.

The guys are sadistic jerks and I'm glad they were arrested. They're both 28 years old. I'm guessing this isn't their first stupid sick act.

According to the story the neighbor had (at least) 20 cats and the traps were on property owned by the brothers. This conjures a picture of a 'crazy cat lady' nearby and 20+ cats loose on my property would trigger a call to animal control.

And a wasted call that would be as we have tried it.
Cats rats and dogs. We have had issues with all 3 brought on by asshat crazy neighbors.
To the north we had a Hispanic family that had free range chickens and rabbits.
The rabbits went with them as did the chickens when they moved. But they put food out on the ground and in bowls for the menagerie and that brough in the Ferrall cats and possums and raccoons. We were trapping and ending at least 3 to 4 a week for the next couple of months.
Then the crazy cat lady moved into that house and the cycle started again. I have discussed this in here before. The damage cats do sucks.
I agree with those who say those were not pets. They were destructive Farrell animals. The serve no purpose.

Now we have no idea what has taken place leading up to all of this. I am sure it is much more than was reported.
