This is the Spanish Mauser in 7.62x51 my Amish buddy wanted done. I tried to talk him out of using this because it has only the two bolt lugs and not the safety of the third lug. I even offered a trade for a three lug .308 but he is adamant this is the one he wants:

As you can see it has had two stock repairs in the past. I disassembled, cleaned, blued the metal and cleaned the stock and applied a single coat of tung oil. I had to replace a broken mag spring and threw in the repop sling from the '70's for a total of $30. Too much?

Just the 87's and the 87A's have a plethora of variations not even getting into the 487's and all the others.

Most people go 'ho hum' but I see something of unique engineering and something that would cost too much to produce today...
    El Guapo, is that you?

Been cleaning up and organizing my reloading bench. It's located in the basement storage area and the storage has been creeping into my reloading and gun space.

This is a great thread. After writing the other day I decided, "why not' to my Winchester 72 and my Stephens 722 projects.

This is the action of the Win 72 after new cocking handle and reblueing:

I am still working on the furniture on this one. Besides lookin like a beaver took a bite out of it, it looked like it was a discarded coon rifle that was found in a creek and placed over a wood fire to dry out. I am not sure of what it will look like when done but it will be better than it was before...

I just thought about something else I want to do; create some type of better magazine storage. I just have them laying on a shelf in my safe.

And/or maybe something to put my handguns on instead of laying them on a shelf. I have some leftover wood from a Christmas present project I did. I could build something and it wouldn't cost much.

I have become gun doctor to two Amish communities. I have cleaned and repaired more than a half dozen in last two weeks and as many to go. It is as if they never thought the gun may need cleaning. Most of the ailments go away after the cleaning...
I do the same for the local Amish. Cleaning, refinishing, replacement of broken stocks and lost parts. Some of their guns have decades of accumulated dirt, gunk and powder residue.

Update gun inventory. Clean all guns and document the date, since not all guns get regular usage. Match up unmounted scopes to guns and get them mounted. Start selling stuff I haven't used and don't expect to use, including components and accessories. I'm not getting younger, and my kids shoot but not really into it.

I put some pegboard inside the door of a couple of my safes and used the hooks to hang my handguns. I got some of that rubber coating stuff to dip the hooks in.

That looks really nice but I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money. Plus I don't have near the stuff that you folks have. I'm talking about organizing a handful of mags for 2 pistols.

I'm just kinda OCD and would like everything neat and in it's place, lol.

I have some winter projects, my Jeep build, 2 old stereo consoles I'm changing to bluetooth... but only one gun related one.

An old china cabinet. The big kind with a long base about 5 ft wide, and a separate hutch that goes on top. It has (had) three doors, and glass shelves. Well, two doors. The center section didn't open. All that is gone now, and I'm in the process of converting it into a 14 gun cabinet. Just picked up the green felt at Hobby Lobby last week. I wanted to modify the center section into a third door, but couldn't find hardware to match, and I'm not wanting to replace every single piece on it just to add it, so it will be an open design cabinet.

Of course then I will need a few more rifles to fill it up... lol.
