What is everyone spending time on this winter in terms of gun stuff. Anything that you tend to do in the winter more than you do in the summer?

For me, it’s typically reloading. I reload all year long but in January through February, I reload the bulk of what I’ll shoot that year. Cold winter nights are more fun spent down in the basement at the reloader with an audiobook playing or some decent music maybe. Add in hot coffee (decaf in the evenings) and it’s a great way to spend cold winter nights.

I also tend to clean out the range bags, gun safe and give everything a cleaning and wipe down. I don’t spend as much time at the range in the winter as I do in the summer but gun related hobbies get a lot more of my time in the winter.

Someday before tax season I'll spend some time cleaning the rifles I've shot this year. I don't shoot a ton so it's never an urgent matter.

I will probably do some indoor pistol practice, and at least a day or two to get rifles on paper at 25 yards this month.

I will do some full detail cleaning of some of my firearms.

I too spend more time reloading. My goal is to have everything loaded by spring this year. So far I'm not doing so well, lol. The plan is have enough reloads to get me through next "season". I'm shooting factory stuff during the winter so I don't deplete what I am loading.

I am going to go through my "gun stuff" and do another purge. Undecided if I will try to sell or just give it to people who could use it.

I don't have any firearms that need work. That was all done last winter.

Need to get back to work on my "gill gun" restoration. Somehow it got pushed to the back burner.

Have some clean up work to do on my first .22 (Chipmunk) after not seeing it for 25 years.

Honestly, just get out and shoot more is my main project!

Winter is my gun season, ironically. It is when I trade out the old for the new and do my most shooting.

Was looking for a range gun the other day and picked up a Taurus G3. Went to the range and put about 200 rounds through it. Great value for the money so far.

I like to save small primer .45 brass for winter use. If I run a small batch of .45 using SPP brass, I use those when shooting in the snow. I don’t feel the need to dig SPP .45 brass out of the snow like I do with normal .45 brass. That will be one of the next batches to run for me this winter

Definitely need to clean and sort the reloading room.

Was a going to be a winter project but the wife bought me a few parts for Christmas that sped up the build. Still need to hit the range but that'll probably be spring unless we get a 50° rogue day on a weekend beforehand.

Shooting-wise, it's getting to be rimfire and revolver time of year...so I don't have to worry about chasing brass in the snow. So I'll be loading .38, .357, .44, and .45 Colt.

I oiled and waxed the stocks on my Garands and my 870 over the past couple of weeks.

I've also been working on developing .303 loads for an Enfield SMLE that we bought for my son recently...stupid .311 diameter and brittle brass is making it a headache and it's hard to find ammo or components for it right now. A member of another forum I participate in hooked me up with some cast bullets to try out...I'm probably going to end up going that route as it'll be easier on the brass and I won't have to worry about sourcing bullets.

I recently acquired a little Kel-Tec P32 that had some issues, so I've been working on getting that reliable and making some kydex for it.

A member here kindly gifted me some unfinished grip blanks for my Model 66, so I've been working on finishing those out and making them work on a round-butt gun (they're square butt grips). They're about done...I just need to wait for the finish to cure so I can poly them.

When I get done with all that, I have a friend who has a few gun-in-a-bag type projects he was telling me about, so hopefully I can help him get those put back together.

Gonna be a busy winter :)!

I have a few scopes to mount and some others to switch between rifles, I also have a .17 Remington upper to build. Other than that I don't have any projects planned for this time of year. Like others, this is the time of the year that I do the bulk of my reloading though. Most weekends at this time of year I'll put a good bball game on the tv and get busy reloading.

I showed the Amish what a 'gill gun' was and they had to have some. I have spruced up about half a dozen in the past few years. There is a major variation in the 'quality' of the internals. One of mine, all the internals are chromed and it is a hardware store gun!

Know you are not the only admirer of these, include me and a whole bunch of Amish...

I'm replacing sights on handguns, reloading all the calibers i have brass for. Checking guns in safe to see how they are holding up after I treated them with WD-40 Specialist Corrosion Inhibitor. So far it's working great.

Just the 87's and the 87A's have a plethora of variations not even getting into the 487's and all the others.

Most people go 'ho hum' but I see something of unique engineering and something that would cost too much to produce today...
