I know they're mostly (if not all) made overseas now and I wish that weren't the case but their stuff has been keeping my buns warm for decades. I just came back in from making sure the horses and goats had what they needed for the night and aside from my exposed face, I wasn't the least bit uncomfortable in spite of the 20mph wind and -4* wind chill. Insulated bibs and an insulated barn coat I bought about 15 years ago, well broke in and long past the value paid.

I've tied on more than one good one sitting in a lawn chair staring at a hole in the ice. Hours and hours of beer drinkin, good music and an occasional rainbow. Good memories in spite of the below freezing temps thanks in part to Carharrt.

Bought my first jacket way back in 1994 and it's still going strong (no comment on how it fits these days :lmfao: :lmfao: :lmfao:. That thing has put a lot of miles on horseback in Missouri and Indiana and spent a lot of hours around a campfire.

These completely random thoughts brought to you by a slightly inebriated Phylo :):

This is my go to brand like Redwings have protected my feet for years Carhart has braced me from the elements. All my Tee shirts and sweatshirts are from them as well as my heavy cold weather gear. My sock hats and scarves as well. CKW has a butt load of their gear as well and my daughter and SIL hope they get some for Christmas. Yup they both got Hoodies.
Davis in Mooresville are my peoples.

I used to have a pair of Carhart black arctic bibs and barn coat. Unbeatable. These days I mostly wear Berco. I'm old enough to remember going up to Berne to the outlet and having the ladies and gentlemen there tailor coveralls for us. Their work was excellent, and we put their products to good use. We were animals. LOL

A good coat is like a teddy bear. I have a Bulwark FR parka that my company bought me in 2011. They bought me a replacement one in 2017. So the original is my go to when temps get low. I love it.

It’s amazing what good extreme weather gear does for you when you are In The elements.

I have a pair of bibs that I acquired in about 1988. "Bout time to retire them although they have a lot of good memories. I keep downgrading my jackets. The worse they look, the rougher the tasks. I can't decide though about boots. I've got Redwings and Wolverines and don't know which I prefer.

Redwing has come out with a line of cold weather water resistant thinselate lined boots that resemble hikers. High top lace ups.
    They are light and comfortable.

Great celebration of some real quality brands made for rugged work. About six years ago some friends introduced me to Ariot and Cinch brands, clothing made for working cowboys. Cinch offers so many different cuts of jeans to fit any man without plumbers button falling off.

Their shirts are high quality and cut full, again the other side of eliminating plumbers butt exposure, particularly for those guys that have some extra middle without having to go to the big tall that are too big. Ariot makes nice shirts and boots, if one wants sturdy slip on work boots. For what you are doing Phylodog, try the warthog line of boots.

Lastly Chinch has been supportive of 2A and concealed carry by offering jackets that have built in carry options…

Son and daughter gave me Carhart insulated bibs for Christmas. Wore them for the first time yesterday, toasty warm.
Reminds me of the old saying: "There is no bad weather, only bad clothes".

+1 for the Ariat shirts. Spendy, but very high quality.

    Near the big river.
Ditto on the Carharts. I have a couple sets of bibs, denim and heavy canvas for the woods. Wear their t shirts a lot. Bibs and T are my regular wear 99% of the time now I am retired.

Their jeans fit my + sized butt well, when I have to dress up.

My insulated Carhartt jacket has been going strong since 1987. Still fits like it did when I bought it. It is stained, faded, mouse chewed and has holes in the sleeves with duct tape patches but I'll never get rid of it.

After 10 years I thought my Carhartt wellingtons were done for. Sole on one was cracked and giving up chunks like a retread tire. Found a store in So. B. to repair them and now ready for another 10 yrs. Best thing is I didn't have to take them or pick them up from that S H town.

I have been buying Carhartt for years. Everything from hats to bibs. While Christmas shopping for some people I went to my local Tractor Supply I found this coat that was extremely comfortable and flexible enough I really wanted to take it home. I thought wow Carhartt is really stepping up the game. It felt like one, wore like one, had the material like one. Wasn’t one... it’s this new company called Ridgecut. It’s more flexible and comfortable than my old Carhartt coat. The cuffs are actually cut at an angle so that your sleeves don’t get in the way of work.( Hard to explain) In any fashion, this thing is comfortable, light, and warm. The price point is under a Carhartt by about %20.

I was issued a set of Arctic Carhartt bibs and a coat almost 15 years now. I think I've worn the coat once and my wife may have worn the bibs once.

I bought an off-brand pair of bibs like 17 years ago. And an off-brand coat about 20 years ago. Back when I did actual work and was outside all the time doing it.

Those cheap off-brand things have done me well for ages now - despite being half the price of Carhartt.

Jeans & a sweatshirt under the bibs; and a thick insulated zip-up plaid hoodie jacket thing over the bibs. Kept me warm in all but the worst wind. And this was standing out on the side of highways and Interstates doing the work.

I don't know how anyone doing any kind of physical labor could keep COOL in the Arctic stuff, though. Seriously. Unless you're sitting still and literally doing nothing; those Arctic insulated things are HOT. Too hot.

I have a set of bibs and jacket that I bought in 94’. Still good. Still warm. Wore the jacket last evening cleaning stalls and spreading manure. Broke a sweat doing it!

I wanted warm and bought insulated bibs and they are too hot for most work days if you are working…
