Yessir. Made some great friends working there. Heck of an experience. Would do it again 100 times. Especially to put on a resume. Would I recommend it? No. Am I glad I left? Yes. It wore me down. We had multiple OFFICERS commit suicide last year and we lost a Lieutenant to a stabbing in Indiana State… I’m sure some here heard about that. The prison…..?????
The Company I worked for in the mid 80’s Han the contract for 4 facility’s to maintain the Refrigeration equipment and Pendleton was 1 of them. One of the most interesting places I ever worked. Never felt threatened as I was basically teaching a few inmates to do some of that work. Ate with the brass Nd made some friends. That was when they grew beef and fed themselves. I think they stopped doing that. Not sure. Contract stayed with us for 2 years.Yessir. Made some great friends working there. Heck of an experience. Would do it again 100 times. And that’s honestly the most surprising part of working there. As long as you aren’t a hard ass, they are pretty down to earth. You begin to see that many (not all) of them made a mistake or some bad decisions and ended up there. But they’re still just people. That’s what we always had to ingrain into the newbies because a lot of them would want to go in there and terrorize these guys and think they were super troopers. Doesn’t prevent you from being on high alert all the time, though, which is a feeling I DO NOT miss. And yeah, they phased out the milk and meat making in the mid 90s… I believe? They’re contracted through Aramark now for food products. Which is now the number one source of trafficking outside offenders and their families…The Company I worked for in the mid 80’s Han the contract for 4 facility’s to maintain the Refrigeration equipment and Pendleton was 1 of them. Yes it was a learning experience. The inmate crew I worked with in the power house were good guys and earned those spots. They respected me and I returned that respect seeing as 2 were multiple murderers and the other 2 were violent offendersAnd that’s honestly the most surprising part of working there. Then you are retiring?
Looks like I have 19 midnights left.
Unless there's some overtime I can't predict.
End of the year. Then you are retiring?
Sorry to hear that.Insomnia is a bitch
With time you will adjust.Sorry to hear that.
I'm worried about if I'll be able to sleep normally after retirement.
I've never worked day shifts.
So it might take a BIG adjustment.
