mine is people talking at the range, not just communicating but long loud conversations over the gun fire. Just go have a beer and talk, Im here to shoot and dont want to hear you screaming to be heard. Oh, and range officers that are lonely, leave me alone I wanna shoot.
Not to mention the fact that excessive talking is almost always accompanied by negligence with the firearm. The shooter turns to respond and ends up sweeping the entire line.

My biggest range peeve (that’s not safety related) is restrictions on steel and aluminum cased ammo. I rarely purchase anything but brass, but I should have the option. Don’t restrict my options because you don’t feel like sorting the casings. Just be appreciative of the fact that I patronize your establishment and allow you to profit off my brass.

A more minor annoyance is getting stuck in a lane next to someone shooting a Glock. You’re pretty much guaranteed to get showered with casings. I can’t say too much because sometimes I’m that guy, but it’s still annoying.

Lately, they have been pushing the Sig P365 SAS...apparently. A lot of women (and a few men) have been showing up at the range, proud of their new purchase because it has a "no snag" design. It has no irons and just a fiber optic, illuminated with ambient light, new-fangled fancy gizmo inset in the slide. The illuminated dot looks great with direct overhead light!

Warning: the sight does not work worth a squat when shooting from a dark position to a lit scene. Shooting from a covered shooting line there is not enough overhead light to illuminate the sight enough to contrast against a target out in direct light...even if it is overcast out. That just makes the shaded area even worse.

There is a Tritium source inside the sight, so it does self-illuminate in dark conditions, but it is not bright enough to work during the day.

Also, the sight requires the user to partially obscure the target with slide itself because the aiming dot is inset within the slide. Using the sight requires a lot of practice and muscle memory because the user has to look into the fiber optic gizmo to align the dot within a circle on top of the desired POI. There is no reference like you would have with iron sights when bringing the gun to a presentation position.

The slide is not cut to accept a RDS if someone desires to change out the new-fangled gizmo. Gun shop personnel have also been misinforming folks about this.

It is just my opinion, but it is a 10ft gun that can only be used for point-shooting.

Every time I see one of these show up on the firing line I know exactly what is going to happen. Utter disappointment. It is so bad, my heart sinks whenever I see a smiling face unpack one of these on the line.

Agreed. I was shocked Sig let that design make it to production. I don’t care for the 365 but was curious about the sight and asked to see one at the LGS. Took one look, thought “wow, that’s terrible,” and gave it back. I’m not really a fanboy of any particular manufacturer, but Sig would be it if I had to choose. I felt like they let me down with that one.

Referring to any and all Kalashnikov variants as an "AK-47."

Claiming steel case ammo always equals steel core ammo. I'm looking at you, Fudd gun ranges.

    Mucking up they're/their/there.

    Pretty much Michigan.
People not putting stuff back in its spot, specifically tools but its anything really.

My wife’s brothers/sisters/parents randomly showing up unannounced or just being there when i get off work and i have no clue until i roll into the driveway.

Getting a call anytime someone breaks down just because i own a trailer. AAA is $49/year, well worth the investment if your going to drive cars worth less than your average 1911. I think people getting mad when i tell them they can’t borrow my trailer fits in with that one.

    USPS.

I don't give a shiX about someone calling a Magazine a Clip, or a Cartridge a bullet. I'm 80 years old, my father passed when I was 10 and I was taught firearm safety hunting / shooting by my BIL who had just returned from WW2 with a Silver Star, 2 Bronze stars and a Purple heart. He carried a 30 cal bullet in between his heart and spine until his death!

He always called a magazine a clip - far be it from me to correct him! Of course the Garand had an En-bloc Clip so easy to interchange terms.

I hunted from the time I was about 13 years old, stopped several years later. Now just collect and target shoot.

What is the big deal about using any terminology as long as the recipient understands what the person is talking about? Does it make those that correct the statement feel smarter?

My youngest son and I collect firearms (and ammo). We reload 35+ different calibers. I don't by any means consider myself an EXPERT as I usually learn something every week!

People who constantly pronounce the word 'the' as 'thee'

People who start a sentence with 'And so'

People who use the words 'like' and/or 'you know' every 4th or 5th word in a sentence

People who say 'And so, like, you know, thee...

The guy that shows up at the range, ignores all of the other open benches and instead picks the one next to me. He then unloads some sort of elephant gun with a muzzle brake that blasts my hair straight up and leaves me deafened in spite of my hearing protection.

It's like picking the urinal next to you in an otherwise empty restroom.

near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
Mine is the use of the word "build". Many post they have built a rifle. In reality most of them assembled parts to complete a rifle.
Where is the line drawn? Do you have to mine the ore, smelt and refine it then machine each part?

I’m building a house right now. Am I assembling it or building it? I did grow the trees and cut them down and mill the lumber...

On the language and grammar front, it annoys me whenever someone refers to a second year high school or college student as a "Southmore"

At the range, it annoys me when I see adults allowing children to shoot without proper eye protection.

Now that I have gotten that off of my chest, I pledge to be more tolerant of the quirks of others.

People who don't understand or use the proper terminology to differentiate between a revolver and a semi-automatic (aka, 'pistol') when comparing or explaining handguns! It's not just because they misunderstand it, it's because they're in a position where they should know the difference! Comes from a lack of experience and training!
