I'd rather just cut and split the wood I use for my fireplace insert by hand.
My fat old self can sure use the exercise, and it's a lot easier on the pocketbook!

Would happen to recall the brand? I’m looking at a few of them. Just trying to get an idea of any potential problems with any one brand over the other.
It's a Dyna Products model SC-16. He can do 5 cords per hour if someone is keeping the logs loaded.

    He's been happy with it.

Awesome thanks! I’ve looked at dyna as well as a dozen others. I think I’m most interested in the Hudson forestry models. They are economic and I know they make good equipment.
we burn a lot of wood and have a lot of friends that burn wood as well. It will pay for itself quickly

Cut five trees from 12" popples to a big big oak this weekend. Storm damage at the cabin. Ought to last through summer for cooking wood.

Cut a lot of hickory today, the logs don't look as good as the job Indyjohn does, but they will work for firewood. Lots of poison ivy vines on them so it was shower time after cutting. The gardener kept her distance after I was done.;)

This Saturday is going to be the first one since spring that it will be right for manual labor in the woods. I won't get out until Sunday, important soccer game Saturday that I must spectate. My sophomore daughter plays on the Forest Park Ladies Varsity soccer team. They are 19-1 overall, playing for Regional Championship in Clarksville.

Same here with marking trees and just seeing what’s fallen over the summer. Too wet for the tractor and fields have corn on them so when he pulls off the field I’ll be working easier. Trying to drop stuff towards the field and pull it out with the ranger or the tractor.. have a couple of trees close to the house I want to drop too. I also have to move my wood boiler soon.. it is always something..
