    This page says they do:

But the Service Guide updated on 9/20/2021 says not:

    Firearms

Excellent question. I was going to ship a handgun using them since they are cheaper than UPS.

Both require overnight shipping from non-FFLs even before this, no? When I sold a Sig on GB, it was $25 for my FFL to ship it (before insurance & their $30 fee to process it for me) using the USPS. FedEx from the local store was $128 or so. Infuriating that the cheapest cost for me was double what it was from the FFL, which was double what it would've been through the USPS directly (FFLs can use Priority instead of overnight with USPS).

Can't say I'm surprised. Dependence on UPS and FedEx has been a vulnerability for ages. Intimidate them into locking out guns and movement of guns in this country virtually stops.

Ok, how could it be updated 9/21/2021? That’s eleven days in the future as of this post.

Policy might have changed but I shipped a handgun to a manufacturer in May/June/July time frame via FedEx. It was expensive. They shipped it back directly to my door via FedEx.

I'll be going to FedEx today to ship a firearm out. I'll post here later with an update of how it went.

Why do you need to tell them whats in the box?

I have an ebay store and two commercial properties. I could make a gun store but I don’t have time and I don’t want to borrow what it would take to get started right. Everyday, day in, day out I am shipping stuff. I have 500-1000sq ft dedicated to shipping and shipping supplies and equipment. I was thinking of getting an FFL not to really sell guns but rather to accept shipped guns and do 4473s for people. Or ship out guns for people. I didn’t know shipping out firearms required special FedEx permission. There is another service I could offer. This is seaming like a better idea everyday. My dad tried to ship a gun at the local UPS store and they flipped out. I don’t remember if he got it shipped or not but I remember it was a hubbabaloo. I thought they had gotten over it. They used to ask me what was in every package. I guess when they decided I was just making stuff up they quit asking. I am happy to confirm I am not shipping anything hazardous but asking specifically “what is it” is to much. Its nunya, thats what it is. A whole box of nunya.

Because when they lose it, they have to know what to look for in the lost boxes. I know guys have said "machine parts" when shipping BCGs and such to get around rules like that.

"Hey, there is a gun in this box. But the guy said he lost 'machine parts', so that cant be HIS box."

And in some cases, if its a firearm, they handle it differently. One of the carriers will ONLY ship overnight; they dont want it in their hands any longer than necessary.

They still don’t need to know whats in the box. I have had them break a lot of stuff in my 15 years of shipping. I have never had them loose something. Usps has lost a couple but they eventually turned up. Never had anything permanently lost and UPS and FedEx have never temporarily lost anything. They never open anything. If I had a legal transaction that needed shipping I wouldn’t have any problems shipping it unmarked and telling them its a blender. Wouldn’t do that at the Post Office however, thats the Feds….

….Actually I looked it up and it looks like shipping an undeclared and unmarked firearm via UPS or FedEx might be federally illegal, so I don’t advocate doing that. UPS rules say that the collector’s license counts for obtaining shipping approval. I think that collectors license is relatively cheap and easy to get.

I've been avoiding UPS and FEDEX for shipping guns for years, unless I get a shipping label from a manufacturer. My local FFL will ship via USPS to another FFL (and vice versa) for a lot less money.

Pre paid for shipping label on FedEx site. Dropped off and notified them package contained a firearm. Lady asked if any ammo was inside (there wasn't). Gave me a recipt and that was it. No issues whatsoever.

I just shipped my PPS M2 to Walther for the recall. I had the box all packed up myself, but the guy at the FedEx on East just north of 465 asked what was inside anyway. I told him it was an unloaded handgun. He didn’t bat an eye. Just asked for a value.

Incidentally I got it back in less than a week - 4 days I think.
