IMO you're placing the blame in the wrong place. Especially blaming a plant that's been there for almost 100 years.
Some say blame, I say, "reasons". There are plenty of reasons why MC is the way it is, but I was responding to a post that talked about "Beautiful and what should be valuable piece of lakefront property" and pointing out that there's not that much lakefront property available.

I would have thought my avatar picture would have given me away. LOL
    Yep that's me.
I left the Bail business and went to work for the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy in the Jail.
I then got my back destroyed while on duty so... Been laying low since the failed surgery to fix it.
Sorry to hear about your back issues. I was dealing with back issues about 2 years ago, disc protrusion. Saw a surgeon, and of course he wanted to do surgery. Decided to take a chance on chiropractor approach. Saw a guy in Valpo that came highly recommended. It took a while, I was visiting him weekly in the early stages. Eventually he got me fixed up. I'm as good as new now. I know every situation is different. I hope you can get your situation resolved. Back issues really limit you in doing lots of stuff. Good luck!

Ok, I can understand the beauty part of it. But the overall rundown infrastructure except for select areas don't help it look good. I think corrupt/crappy political environment and general thuggery lifestyle that is promoted deters more people than a few companies that bring in lots of money to the area.

There is also a rumor I've heard numerous times over the years that Michigan City was one of the places Six Flags was looking to put their amusement park, but Michigan City basically refused. I can't remember what is in the place they supposedly wanted to build it, either the landfill or the prison.

Our local politics have been fun to watch over the last two years.

We could have had Bass pro Shops and we turned it down so...

I was at the mercy of Workman's Comp through the Sheriff's Office, If I had refused their treatment I would have gotten Bumpkiss Notta, nothing !!!
This august I'll have been fighting for disability for three years, it is federal court and supposedly I'll get an answer this month.
"Work for the government They will take care of you" Don't count on it !!!
