    Morning.

I did 3 hours of meetings (in a row) yesterday. I feel your pain WT.

My kid has been having depression issues lately as well. We are trying to get the kid back into counseling. However the kid's therapist isn't accepting new clients. The kid stopped going to counseling last year, and as a result they would be a "new" client due to that. So we are working with her to find a new one.

What I am trying to say, is there is only so much the medications can do, and therapy needs to be coupled with the meds often times.

    Sorry about the meetings.

Morning Vinny. Ah, it's all good. My position is great, but I do occasionally have more meetings than I'd like. Fortunately it's nowhere near as bad as when I was at Anthem.

    Good Morning

Yep, 3 hours in a row, maybe 4 depending on how the second meeting goes. BLEAH.

As someone who has always struggled with depression issues, find something that they find joy in doing. Whether it's a hobby, reading, hiking or whatever. I've found having something good to read helps to get out of my own head and thinking about something else. Going outdoors and walking in the woods is something else that helps me. Finding those things that helps them to set their depression aside may help them in dealing with it. Dunno, everyone is different, but it's helped me. Good luck.

    Morning all!
I worked a little more on the shelf yesterday. I made some progress and a big mess at the same time. I've got to straighten some boards tonight and make some supporting braces. Should be more of a mess if I do it correctly.

Reading and the outdoors have always been my escapes, too. When I was a kid, I could often be found outdoors with a book. Yoga is really good, too.

I used to do martial arts, where you do yoga. Now I do hikes and/or jogging, when I can. Any physical fitness is good. Yoga and martial arts are especially good as there's a mental aspect as well.

This is some stellar advice. This is what we have gotten from his therapist in the past, and have pushed for the kid to do.

Finding that thing that they like is the hard part. We keep trying. The kid doesn't enjoy the outdoors, or reading. I don't get it either, reading is like my main hobby. So we keep trying to find things the kid enjoys.

Yeah, it can be tough. Video games? Maybe something along the lines of open world RPG/RTS would be something that would suck him in and allow them to get outside his or her own head? Heck, even TV shows and movies can help as distractions, but then you have to worry about messages that Hollywood throws into everything. I retreated into books from a young age due to some family problems and reading became my refuge from the world. Later in my teen years I got into the Boy Scouts and was introduced to camping, hiking and fell in love with it. I don't camp any more, but love to hike or just spend time walking in the woods. The works for me, but obviously not everyone. Unfortunately, you just need to keep trying to find something that interests them. The hard part is that depression makes it hard to find anything enjoyable, making that a horrid cycle. Again, good luck with it as I know it's difficult.

Mountain biking and tree climbing have been my mind clearing activities for years. Both are good exercise and hold/focus your mind.

Road biking does not work for me. My mind can wander to negative things with little consequence. With MTN biking you quickly learn that if your mind wanders, your body hits the ground, rocks or trees resulting in pain. Pain is a great motivator and it does not take long before you stay focused.

Tree climbing is similar in that one small mistake can be catastrophic. When you stop for a rest, the view is so good that it holds my mind as well.

On the other hand, there have been two times way back in my life where Prozac helped me out of the hole that is depression.
