DeSantis is looking like a real all American presidential candidate. The man has my vote already if he runs for office.
Agreed. He beat Trump in a 2024 straw poll last week too. T needs to disappear. Moderates and a whole lot of GOP won't vote for him and he energizes the left like no one I've ever seen before. DeSantis is a much stronger candidate.

DeSantis is a lot further right than Trump is.

It's so funny to me watching people completely ignore Trump's policy and just ascribe him being far right based on how he sounds. Oh well, I would be happy with someone considerably harder right than Trump anyway.

Isn't it? T's problem is his ego has it's own zip code and no filter and that simply doesn't play well in politics. I love most of his policies but I don't like him as a person much at all.

His problem is that he is not cut out for politics. He's cut out for marketing.
He tolerated far too much back stabbing, and never learned from it.

When the leaking at the white house started, it should have been time for heads to roll, but he didn't have it in him to do anything about it and allowed the swamp to walk on him. Just like how he walked away to a fraudulent election, when he had the backing and the power to have crossed the Rubicon if he wanted.

College faculty and staff have to declare their political beliefs? Now think about that for a moment. Are you ok with the state compelling you to tell it what you believe? No one can think of how that could possibly be abused and used against you? That’s fascism. Like right out of Nazi Germany, fascism. I don’t like this AT ALL. If you don’t see the problem with this, ask yourself how you would feel, if a Democrat was forcing you to divulge your beliefs, outside of national security issues, in order to keep your job.

You have a problem with making the slimeballs tell the truth for once? What is wrong with some truth in advertising? We are expected to blindly trust these rat bastards with our children with no accountability for what they are teaching. This needs to stop.

"It used to be thought that a university campus was a place where you'd be exposed to a lot of different ideas," DeSantis said. "Unfortunately, now the norm is, these are more intellectually repressive environments," he added.

Nothing in that article says the survey wouldn’t be anonymous. I hate to assume, but I imagine it would be.

I think if we polled university faculty and sophomore+ political leanings right now, we would see a vast leftist majority.

I bet we would see a normal 50/50 or 60/40 split at the freshman level.

That right there would actually prove there is indoctrination happening.

Which we all already know is happening.

But if signed and enacted quickly enough, DeSantis could have actual empirical evidence to support these claims to run on.

I love Trump-populism without Trump. I do think he should have crossed the Rubicon though…

According to the article you linked to, the law requires universities to take a survey of the beliefs of faculty and students and report the results of the survey. I don't know if that is worthwhile or not, but it's not quite the same thing as fascism.

    Yes, it's OK.
We shouldn't allow anyone to poison the next generation's minds any more than we allow someone to poison their bodies. Not evil ideologies, not harmful vaccines, not harmful narcotics, not harmful behaviors, not thuggish cultures, not a polluted environment. That's why our people need to have and impose morals and societal expectations of minimum acceptable standards of behavior. That's how "let do as thou wilt be the whole of the law" is designed to destroy people. That's how there are physical life changing consequences for spiritual evil.
But hey, others have said it much better than I.

Sounds like a guy getting ready to run for president.

I think it's great to teach history. I do wish it wasn't couched in moral language.

I disagree, due to DeSantis's own words that mentioning the "indoctrination" of students and denying funds to universities. How does one even gauge that? Having a differing belief than the govt is being "indoctrinated," and may result in a penalty?

I think we should avoid the moral/religious aspect of this. I understand the thought contained, but I think it's a rabbit hole that will devolve into something beyond the topic.

Agreed. Just like most of the stuff he has been pushing lately.

It is a long time to the next election. He better not have any real skeletons in his closet.

You bring up the one the issues I immediately thought of. How do you confirm anything that the students/faculty put in these surveys? Do you crosscheck with their friends, co-workers, children? In what way can you prove that they are being truthful? There's no incentive not to lie, and go along with your real beliefs. People's private thoughts are their own. The state has no business compelling people to tell them what they think. None.
