Hey all, I'm new to these forums and I need to get some good posts in so I can access the classifieds, so I figured I'd pick everyone's brains to make my next build a whole lot better

First off, what I've got laid out so far
ADM blem lower, criterion 8.5" 300 barrel, VLTOR A5 buffer system, surefire OBC, SLT-1 trigger, and potentially a Raptor SD

    So my questions are:
What's your opinion on the raptor SD and in your experience, did it negate some of the gas that blows into your face (I already expect it to suck as a lefty, so imma do everything I can to minimize it)

I havent picked a rail, do you have any suggestions for one that would fit a 1.5" OD suppressor cleanly (12 inches preffered)

Is there any specific reasons you dislike recessed suppressor builds?

General AR chat/things to look into would be much appreciated

I also wanted to do a recessed suppressor build with my 300 blk SBR but it is quite difficult finding handguards that will accommodate a suppressor of that diameter. Most aftermarket handguards tend to be in the 1.3" range, so I gave up on that idea and went with an SLR Rifleworks handguard that runs a few millimeters shy of the threads.

I don't have any experience with that particular charging handle, but I went with a couple other options to reduce blowback and I've been pretty satisfied with the results. The first was a Superlative Arms bleed off gas block which is designed to direct excess gas forward when shooting suppressed. It's now my go-to adjustable gas block for builds. The second was a LMT enhanced BCG. It has extra ports to redirect excess gas away from the shooters face. Both are a little pricey but worth the money IMO. I can fire freely while standing without being gassed. The only time it really happens is if I'm hunkered down over the rifle shooting at longer distances.

Edit: Forgot to mention...the VLTOR system is good but the JP silent captured spring system with the spring kit is worth looking into.

Thanks for the tip on the gas block, I'll definitely grab one to check out, and I've looked at the captured springs and such before but I have friends who have too much time and money who have figured the VLTOR system to a T, so I'll obviously be sticking with it

    Thanks for the reply mate!

Yankee Hill makes hand guards that have a large enough inside diameter to fit suppressor. Linear comp works when suppressor is off.
Yankee hill on both one is 10.5 the other is 7.5. Both 300blk

KAC urx4 rails will fit a suppressor underneath so will Troy ind. MLOK rail. I have the 7.2" Troy on my 6" 300blk the suppressor sets about 1.5" under the rail.
