It has been a while since I have done a review. This one will be for Mitch Rosen's Upper Limit. Anyone who reads this can easily google the company and the holster. I have wanted to look at some of Mitch's leather for some time now and the upper limit has not been a disappointment.

I ordered the express line holster as opposed to the full detailed version. This was not so much because of cost but rather wait time. They originally told me 4-6 weeks and I was happy when the product arrived in 1/2 of that time. Way to go!!!! First impressions were that the holster was tight as any quality, well fit leather should be. There were instructions included on how to break in the holster. After wearing the unit for a week I can say it does break in nicely and is comfortable.

The Upper Limit is an ultra high ride, straight drop holster. The gun is carried at 3 oclock and is best suited for a small, short barreled gun. With the gun riding so high I would recommend a very good belt and limiting not only the size but also the weight of the gun. I wanted to look at this type of holster because a recent career change has me driving a lot. By moving the gun forward on the belt it gets the firearm out of my lumbar area when sitting in the car for long periods of time. The holster also gets the gun high on the belt for excellent concealment. Even with a little printing most people will not recognize what you are carrying as a gun. The draw is fast but you will have to get your shirt pulled high to the pectoral as not to foul your presentation.

I would highly recommend Mitch's product, especially if you are looking to carry a small handgun OWB. This holster would not work as well for a longer, heavier gun as I believe it would fall away from your body or the barrel would hang to low below the belt negating many of the benefits of the design. I think the holster is perfect for the Walther PPS that I am carrying now. It would also be my choice for guns such as the Shield, Sig P365, Glock 43 or Glock 26.

Don’t they make a Ruger branded one for a 1911?
When you order, you tell them what you have.
    They will ask some questions.
Though, he had the "express" model, I never ordered one of those.

But when I ordered mine, which side, what size belt, cant of the gun, model of the gun, etc.

I seem to recall seeing them on Rugers website,
I have been looking for something a little classier for OWB. Sometimes kydex really misses the mark for style lol.

I can't say yes for sure, but I bought mine through Ruger years ago and it's a Mitch Rosen Upper Limit Express. So it's a good chance you are right.

This holster has been worn a lot for about 10ish years, and you can see it's still in good shape. If you're looking for a highride OWB this is hard to beat.

I believe that a couple different firearms manufactures offer Mitch Rosen Express embossed with their logo. Not sure how well I would like this particular design with a 1911. For a 1911 I would probably go with the 5JR or President, I have found the more traditional pancake design to work well.

edit: I just looked at Ruger site. Yes they have the express holsters. The ones for the 1911 look like a 5JR or some type of belt slide. I’m sure they have others depending on the gun.

You're right. I think it would have to be an Officer or Defender length to work with the Upper Limit.

Yes. Otherwise drawing the gun would be hard. My shoulder isn’t that flexible anymore. Also you have to be conscientious of the weight above the belt line, otherwise the gun will want to fall away from the body.

I bought one from Ruger a few years ago for an SR9c and didn’t care for it tho & I normally prefer leather. For one thing it seemed “hard.”
