Sounds great on both! Agreed that .270 and .308 are more than needed, but they are currently my only deer rifles. I plan on assembling my .300 blk this summer. It's hard for me to justify a fourth deer caliber without any kids of my own since the recoil of the .270 and .308 (with limbsaver pad) don't bother me a bit. I've got little Leupold rimfire onto that Ruger American .22 and also plenty (and I mean plenty) of 20 ga light target loads that would be great for squirrels. Also, my Henry 22 is as accurate as I can point it. I've not gone squirrel hunting yet, but have been itching to do it for years.
Shotguns for squirrel is cheating and you want high brass 5 or 6 shot if you insist on using one. Most pellets will pass through that way and you won't have to chew on them. But you will clean some stinky gut shot squirrels. Rimfire or airgun and headshots for the win.
That Henry is the right answer

I'll bring mine too for continuity. I agree, a .22 is more ideal than a SG.

Anyone have, or know someone who has, a set of .308 WIN headspace gauges?

There is a used barrel that I'm interested in buying and I would like to check to see if the bolt from my rifle will headspace correctly with the barrel, before I purchase it from the seller.

    Let me know please.

    .
That rifle has more recoil than about anything I have shoot in a while. IO had something similar in a Savage that let you know it was boss but this thing is well past that.

My grandfather used to say that facial scars are like seeing your history every time you look in the mirror. Strangely, both my sons and myself have been hit by left handed punches.

I have the Go. No-Go and Field gauges. Want me to mail them out tomorrow with 4 boxes of Norma .223?

I have no experience...is it as simple as checking with your bolt or does the barrel have to be correctly "clocked" in your receiver?

Got a call that a tax stamp came in. Went to Bite The Bullet and picked up my Griffin Armament Optimus Micro Silencer.

On the way out I looked at cleaning rods and they had a Tipton CF .17x36" rod...$40. I assume that's too far away for whoever was looking for one.

Haven't been there for a couple months. Did you check out reloading supplies?

Someday (maybe later in the summer), I'd like to borrow those too, if I may, please ?!?
I've gathered most of the parts for the .308 20" barrel AR that I'm going to build. :)

Perhaps some of you have already heard of Raffir USA Wood ?!?.
They supply many, many makers of firearm grips, and knife handles. Their stuff is really unmatched, and I noticed recently that they also carry an assortment of Woolly Mammoth fossils.

Here's an example of a matched set of tusk blocks (pre-sized to make into grips/handles.
    Link: https://raffirusa.com/collections/r...ils-matching-sets-tusk?variant=39411484000437

They developed a process where the wood products and fossils are placed in a vacuum, and then various resins are forced into them, to stabilize and harden them.

Anyway, as a yet undefined project I'm gong to try, I picked up a set of what they called Tusk & Tooth mammoth ivory. These pieces are 1/4" thick, and about 5" long.
They have to be cut with diamond saw blades, and I'm going to investigate a
    (wet) Tile cutter, or similar.

Yesterday, I photographed them. (sorry for long'ish post !)

Thanks, but I have the pro shot you referenced earlier on order already. Thank you sir. Should get it this week.

That said I had to make an unplanned trip out to Terre Haute today as my daughter had too much stuff to get back in her car alone, so I stopped by Top Shot and Academy out there and they didn't have any cleaning rods worth anything, so glad I have the one on order.

I would think it can be checked with just the barrel and bolt.
