We were talking about this at work the other day. One thing that was brought up is, what's going to happen with the model change over? There's going to be a big mix of old model and new models at the same time. Ready for big rebates on last year's models?

and they have 1000 buttloads out at the old Casad Military Depot towards New Haven
So these trucks run without the chips but are just missing the magic bells and whistles and safety features?

I assume they drive them onto a train, deliver them to these offsite storage places, and drive them to a parking space.

19 Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!” 20 So all Israel went down to the Philistines to have their plow points, mattocks, axes and sickles[f] sharpened. 21 The price was two-thirds of a shekel[g] for sharpening plow points and mattocks, and a third of a shekel[h] for sharpening forks and axes and for repointing goads.

22 So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them. (1st Samuel 13)

It has never been a good idea to depend on your enemy for what you need. Remember when we could not make stealth fighters because billy clinton gave the french the contracts for the wiring and they used the product for political leverage? Our leaders never learn.

Other than the MIL spec 68000 Motorola, I don't think any microprocessors are production items in US.

There's still a lot of US fabs.

They have a "handful" of chips. They drive the 99.9997 complete Chevy trucks to the lot, park them, pull the chip for the next bunch to be delivered.
