i read an article about a week back about another first black-owned gunshop in another state. the owners and a few of their customers stated how some blacks feel intimidated by going into a white owned gunshop. for the most part i think that is on the customer. i have definitely experienced racism in my lifetime but yet to see it in a gunshop. i've heard it thrown out there by some people that were denied service usually because of behavior/ being visibly/olefactorily under the influence but never outright racially. we need to stop worrying about what color sees us as and worry more about being educated about our firearms.
    I like the new guy.

I would daresay we`ve all experienced racism, I certainly have. Being color-blind would solve a whole lot of problems all across the board.
color-blind is a very good thing. i heard it leads to knowledge & togetherness. i stay away from diversity & inclusion...two opposing stances. the more you diversify, the less inclusion. i try very hard to veiw things from a non-racial view. an idiot is an @ssh#le no matter the skin tone.

Anyone, for quite some time now, can do whatever they desire to do. The problem with too many people is that there`s no instant gratification in starting up and running a business. Hard work, dedication, taking risks, the very very real possibility of failure, it`s not for everyone. It certainly hasn`t been for me. But nevertheless, anyone can do whatever they choose to work hard to do. I`m over the labels. Labels don`t unite, labels divide. I do not patronize anyone or anything that is construed to be special due to race. Period.
Sometimes hard work and dedication are not enough. It is tough times to be starting a gun business. You can't get guns, you can't get ammo...as a new outlet, his suppliers are obligated to their existing customer base first. I wish them well but fear the worst. The utility company doesn't care that you can't sell what you can't get, neither does the insurance company, the landlord, and of course the layers of government. We all need to support any new shops, they cannot exist without us, and maybe even that won'tbe enough in todays climate. I too, look forward to visiting their shop as soon as the place opens and we get the address. Good people come in all races and sizes, so do bad people. I agree that for a new venture, race doesn't matter, above whatever free advertising they can get. Good luck.

terrorists in my avatar are mixed as is the 14 year old sister.
If you spend time with them it is obvious they have the best of both in their hearts.
I learn from them every day.

I wish the man well. I plan on going by to see if he has any reasonably priced rifles I’d be interested in.

Those posting about not caring about skin color have a point. I hate racism. But there’s a history, and I have to root for a Black man who is interested in providing guns and gun safety education to all parts of our Indiana community, which he clearly intends to do without prejudice according to the news articles.

Race or skin color isn't the problem. The problem is not everyone accepting the American culture. The Modern version of Diversity is division. We need to get back to loving our country and one another, get back that pride of being Americans again.

Treat each other the way you want to be treated is what I was taught. It goes a long way. If a person is a loud mouth agitator that means he wants the same so give it back to him. If a person is nice they deserve to be treated nice.

I was taught in high school many years ago there is but one race it's called the human race however, we are all different in many aspects such as language we speak, foods we eat, religious beliefs or the lack of them, and the color of our skin to name a few. Yet we are all one race. A dog is a dog, a bird is a bird, and a human being is a human being.

I'm personally sick of all this race BS. Imo I believe China and perhaps several other countries are doing their best to divide and destroy our country and useful American idiots are doing it for them.

I'd be more interested in hearing about the first Italian to open up a Chinese Buffet! What about the Jew who opens up a German Restaurant?

IOW - who cares? I'm looking for service, quality and smiles.

I don't know how it happened but around here, beginning a couple of years ago, I became the "transfer guy" for many members of southern Indiana's black community...mostly female (about 60/40 female) and (mostly, either sex) in the medical field.....I think I did a couple for transfers for a nurse and she was pleased with my service and started passing my name around to her friends and coworkers...I also treated a widow lady honestly about her late husband's gun collection and sold it for her...I got her three times what the pawn shop offered her and she got the word around that I was honest in my dealings with her....

I won't say I am proud of that but I am honored to have earned the trust of my fellow citizens...

Since I am fortunate enough to live on the east side (sarcasm) I was gonna stop in for his grand opening Saturday. The location seems to be a secret
Can't find it anywhere. Not even on his FB page. Anyone know?

i totally agree. the problem with history is that we, as people, tend to not learn from history but strive to repeat it.

IMNSHO when people hyphenate their identity, that says a lot

From my view, youre either an American or not.

Giving ones self a special title.beyond that means they want to be excepted, not accepted.

Know darn good and well why the media keeps fanning the flames of division/ racism.
