    I have wondered the same.

I expect a legal beagle will be along to explain to Liberty loving rubes like me how an executive can do anything he wants until a court says no.

I also wonder re: what was mentioned up thread regarding ammo, etc. History shows something like this was tried by a tyrannical son of a b**ch back in April of 1775. It did not turn out too well for that b**ard or the toadies he sent to do his dirty work.
I just wonder whose cognitive functions were/are more impaired - the SOB from 1775, or the SOB from 2021?

in a way, I kinda want to see him try to do AWB part 2, electric boogaloo. Thanks to Slick Willie and Rep Biden, that law made ARs more popular than ever. 20 million strong by one number.

Thanks to the Heller decision, I'd say ARs are off limits now because 20m should be considered "in common use. "

So I'd argue if it werent for those two, (and other nincompoops) they might have a shot at a ban working. Not anymore.

Biden supposedly will name former ATF Agent and Giffords lap dog David Chipman as new head of ATF:
Why is it that leftists feel no need to appoint people who are knowledgeable about whatever they are regulating (like appointing Butthead as Secretary of Transportation who is doing well if he has street average understanding of transportation) and beyond this feel obligated to appoint people hostile towards the people, goods, and services being regulated?

The new ATF director pretty much confirms a war on braces and everything else that can ban by administrative fiat. ATF merely hit the pause button until the new boss was in place.

Lots of stuff in the safe about to become illegal. I hope y'all Biden voters are planning to be the first ones in line outside the police station to surrender your AR pistols.

OK you dingalings. I have had to pull posts and hand out no points warnings. Lets be less like RigRed OK.

I am not playing. If you want to loose access to this playground keep it up.

    Uh-oh.

I had to go back to see what was happening.

I learned that using symbols in lieu of letters, such as an "@" in place of an "a" or a "5" in place of an "s" is no-go so I used "*" to block like the filter.

It looks like if a questionable word does not get "filtered", the preference is to "*" out the entire word, not just a portion.

    Is that the problem?

All cool....just want to make sure I am clear.

    Thanks.

Telling him to insert the knife all the way to hell with the F word kinda twisted it up for me.

I expect that they will be hoping to trade their semiauto AR pistols for select-fire M4s as they apply to join Biden’s “Blue Guards”.

They're not firearms. This EO doesn't effect them. Once they become firearms then they're subject to NICS just like they already were.

    So let's take a look.

A law abiding citizen takes a common hunk of metal and mills it to "79%". On the next operation, he will cross to "80%". Does he have to go get a "background check" before running that drill bit through if he does not want to be a "criminal"?

Will this stop a criminal from running that bit through?

    These idiots are complete ********.

Same thing as it is now. You don't need a NICS check to transfer a gun from yourself to yourself. NICS is for sales, not construction.

Like you said, they're idiots. The only thought here was that the morons who don't know what they're talking about are going to see "ghost guns" and "background checks" and think ground was won. It wasn't. This changes nothing. Your "not a firearm" is still not a firearm when you buy it. If you turn it into a firearm, you're a patriotic American practicing your rights. You buy a "ghost gun" from a dealer (which is never gonna happen) and you have a NICS performed just like you would for any other firearm.

Now... This is just the way I'm seeing it right this moment and is about the only way this could be constitutional. The actual wording, how ATF enforces it, and what other EOs may come with it are entirely different topics. We'll find out most of this tomorrow, but I'm betting on a nothing burger. Just like almost all of Obama's EOs.

For some reason, I thought selling home made firearms was already prohibited. Am I incorrect?

I was thinking they could not be transferred at all.

Does anyone actually do 80% lowers to sell them? I always assumed most people making them were collectors or hobbyists.

That's wrong. You can't build them for the purpose of selling them, but you CAN sell them if you want. The catch here is what dealer on the planet is ever going to buy your non-serialized Dremel gun? No dealer. So, never gonna see a NICS on a "ghost gun" anyhow. It's all BS.

Chipman's protected his Tweets, but you can check out these gems from a Reddit AMA he did:

Hopefully the Republicans find their backbone and we can get a guy like Manchin to vote against confirmation of this crap weasel.

It's illegal to do them for the purpose of selling them. I imagine criminals do, but ya know, "criminal".

I've never heard of anyone wanting to sell their 80% or pipe gun. As you said, it seems most people do it for fun or for freedom.
